What are the best and worst parts of being a wedding guest?

Best: when there is a really good vibe at the reception where the music is pumping, and all your friends and family are there having a great time!

Worst: Long drawn out wedding speeches and poems, especially ones where someone is so overwhelmed and emotional that they're just basically sob speeching for 20 minutes because they can't get through it or bride/grooms who are super inconsiderate about the weather---it's a 105 degrees out, and there is not a tree or umbrella anywhere? It's 20 degrees out, and your hour and half long ceremony is outside???

Well I personally think that it depends on what wedding you’re going to for sure as every wedding is different. But people should also be there to support the bride and groom. Not “oh is it over yet” and “oh when are we eating you don’t have enough food” things like that.

Though I do agree sometimes if you’re sitting there for a long time and there isn’t a lot of food as well as isn’t a lot of festivities. But again, I should be there for them not just myself especially if they don’t have a lot of money. It’s their special day not mine.

So if people are unhappy and complaining at someone’s wedding they are free to leave. It’s not about them it’s about the bride and groom. That’s who they should be there for but unfortunately some people are so self centered they they think everything’s about them.

If it’s a outdoor venue and they planned it out months even years in advance they don’t have a crystal ball to know what the weather is going to be like. So many people are massive babies when it comes to the weather as well. Like layer up or layer down. Bring a umbrella or rain jacket if you know it’s gonna rain. It’s not really their fault.

I'm thinking of ALL the weddings I've been to., and there are few positives.

You should go to one here it's like a music festival. and goes for days , absolutely over the top..

Further to your points ( me - best man in Old Aust ) I was the only one who kept my speach sharp with no notes ( dot points on a business card ) Fck it was boring the stuff these people where going on about ( very superficial couple ) .
They are nearly always so fcken boring and pointless.

Best = taking bets on the divorce , and getting ridiculously intoxicated , thinking " when can I leave " .
Worst = spending decent money on a gift for these pretenders = waste.

BEST: You see the happy couple get married -- and have a good excuse to eat cake.

WORST: You have to schlep to a wedding and deal with a bunch of strangers you'll never see again to celebrate a friend/family member you won't have a moment of time with.

Best: Free food and drinks; seeing friends and relatives you only see at weddings and funerals

Worst: It's expensive, the wedding gift, travel to the wedding, new clothes (especially for your wife/girlfriend); the hangover the day after

Enjoying the food and talking to people is always nice and I like seeing people being happy and in love. The hard part is feeling jealous and extra lonely for the next few weeks after. It's kind of a push and pull that rips me in two different directions. I try to avoid going to weddings as a result.

For me, it’s just being there for my friend or family member and celebrating the love they have between their partner and now new spouse. Food and drink is an added bonus and dancing as well
