What things did you enjoy and hate at a wedding?

Starting to think about planning a wedding. Wanting something low-key, fun, not super traditional. I have a few ideas of things to keep everyone entertained while being budget friendly, but would love some other ideas of what to do and what to avoid.

Some ideas I have:

-Have games set up to entertain (card games, giant jenga, beanbag toss etc)

- cocktail style with a food truck rather than sit down meal

- Lego sets and coloring pages for the kids/young teens that may attend

- disposable cameras for guests to take photos with (or an app they can scan to use and take photos on their own phones)

Let me know any other budget friendly ideas you liked.

Sounds somewhat similar to my sisters wedding, only one I’ve actually had a good time.
They did the whole deal at their house, set up one of those big portable tents for the ceremony (quick and no frills, BILs sisters did a speech which nobody warned me about so I had to wing mine 😂)
They hired a local BBQ caterer for a pig roast for dinner, bought the booze and someone knew a bartender they hired to run bar for the night, lots of games, disposable cameras. Everyone that didn’t live right nearby camped in the yard (or more specifically passed out on lawn chairs or couches)

Sounds like a good time. Wish I could do it at my house would be much cheaper 😅

Yeah definitely a big cost saver. Think they were under 5k for the whole deal

There's a native wild life sanctuary near me that may be a big contender they do weddings from 2300

The last wedding I went to, previous in getting married, His fiance was fully aware that I fancied her, flirted and flirted with me for months.
When she finally married him it felt like a kick in the teeth!
I don’t like weddings anymore.

I definitely like the idea of the cameras/polaroids...

as for games, how about some karaoke... those are usually fun and popular, so yes...

and triple yes to the food truck, quadruple yes if they're Tacos al Pastor...

and for the kids... ice cream, always ice cream... lol

Cons: stressful.

I hate the fact that it is primarily a financial suicide ritual for the groom with a 70% probability.
