What kind of wedding do you want/did you have?

You are about to get/or have been married. What does that wedding look like? For me it was outdoors in the Texas summer where it was hot lol.

Our wedding was kind of a disaster. The official doing the ceremony couldn't say my wife's name right. My wife nearly passed out at one point from the heat and not drinking water as we decorated for the wedding itself. Her dad brought drinks, spent the whole time making out with the woman he had cheated on his wife with, then left early and took all the drinks with him.

Still, I wouldn't have it any other way. I got to marry the love of my life.

Beach wedding we had that I didn't know would happen. It was a set up and cute af so I went along with it. She went out of her comfort zone and did something super special and I landing in it. No family, no drama, cars, churches, hymns, music, and a heck of a great memory those who were there found it amazingly different.

I got married on April 27, 2024 at 4 pm. Chose the date because it is the ideal month in north Florida. We got married in my church, where I am president of the congregation. There were about 140 guests in attendance, including my 93 year old mother and my wife's sister from China. I was in a grey morning coat and my wife wore a hand-made gown she purchased in China. The church choir sang, I had a string quartet, and I sang a song (You Raise Me Up) to my bride, with piano and string quartet accompaniment.

The reception was at a country club where I have held an annual event for several years. We had a five-piece band. We had a full dinner for everyone, followed by several hours of dancing. The next morning, we drove to Hilton Head Island where we spent a week for our honeymoon.

Most importantly, I married the woman who I want for the rest of my life, and she feels the same about me.

We'd get an officiant probably someone like a close mutual friend or a family member and only invite people really close too us like parents, grandparents and at farthest best friends and cousins. Honestly, I'd like to keep the guest list 20 or under. We'd have a short ceremony somewhere in nature like a grove or something where we both dressed nice but not flashy. No suites or big dresses just a like pretty summer dress and I dress in formal cloths like a dress shirt and some pressed lined pants I guess maybe?

Pretty simple and quiet, we'd have a small reception with drinks and food and then probably go home. We might have a small honeymoon too but I wouldn't want it flashy. in my opinion the flashier a wedding is the less romantic it is. I feel like it takes away a lot of the intimacy in a wedding.

The honeymoon could be more extravagant, but I don't like decadence for the sake of decadence, and I feel like going all out and like heading to Hawaii or something is like putting a hat on a hat, like you're doubling down on drama after the commitment was made in a way I guess I hope that makes sense. I mean yea Hawaii is nice I'm sure, but I don't want things to be flashy I want meaningful time with my SO and I feel like going on an overly fancy honeymoon makes you think more about the flash and less about the intimacy.

My wife and I got married twice.
First, we got married in Cincinnati where she grew up and where her large family lived. We had both been raised Catholic but were no longer religious, but we had a full Catholic service with organ at their family church for the benefit of her parents.
It was kinda cool getting married in the church with the full ceremony with all it pomp and tradition.
My wife got wear the traditional wedding dress and be a beautiful queen. Every girl's dream come true.
Her father got to give her away and she got to dance with him at the reception.

Her very large family and her old friends threw the reception for us that evening at a golf course clubhouse with a lake. They did the decorating, provided the food, drink and music.

Then we went on a two week honeymoon to New England at the height of Fall.

We returned to Los Angeles and, a month after our first wedding, had a second one for my family and all our friends.
Our friends did everything. One provided a lovely clubhouse at her condo in a beautiful setting with a small lake, swans and weeping willows. They all did a beautiful job of decorating. Our assorted friends provided a gourmet, pot-luck banquet.
I paid for the lay minister, a lady my wife knew, who did a beautiful ceremony.
I bought an fantastic "Paradise cake" from the Hawaiian Bakery. I also hired a wonderful saxophonist.
My wife wore her wedding gown and got to make her entrance on a grand staircase.

So, even though both of our weddings were magical, they didn't cost us much at all.

My ideal wedding well, hmmm, honestly I don't want a huge wedding. I prefer something small and intimate with close family and friends. I don't know the color scheme but for some reason I want my bridesmaids to wear like black dresses. For me, lace wedding dress, maybe with sleeves. To appease my mother I'll wear ballet flats or heels, however, the second half of the reception I'm changing into a short white wedding dress, black or neon blue Converse High Tops, and either a jean jacket or leather jacket. But it's not just my day, it's both our day so if he comes from a big family and he wants to invite them all, it'll be fine with me cause at the end of the day, I believe marriage is about the both of you and making sure each other is happy.

I wanted a fairytale wedding in white with horses and carriage. The 50th jubilee.

Then a black one Gothic-Style. The 25th jubilee.

Now I only want a man to share the rest of my life with. I still wish to marry but I don't think it will not happen in this life.

It's better to be alone than to be with an energy vampire, to argue, or to have other stress that you only have because of your partner.

We didn’t have a wedding. He proposed in the morning at a coffee house while sipping expresso. Then I went shopping for a new dress and we met up later in the afternoon, stopped by the jewelers on the way to the courthouse and were able to get gold wedding bands in the right sizes. We had about a 5 hour engagement. Then my parents…after recovering from the shock…gave a reception for us a month later.

We had a small wedding with only very close friends and family. It was on our property with a lake as a backdrop. My wife and her friends and family created a beautiful flower garden where the ceremony took place. I was fortunate enough to have friends that had a band and they performed at the reception. It was actually the best wedding I had ever been to!

We got married in January. We had a wedding at the church and we had the reception at my father in laws house. We renovated the basement. I set up a stereo system. We invited about 50 people. My divorced parents were there and my mother caused a scene. We had homemade raviolis and am awesome wedding cake. The only issue was there was only one bathroom. All my friends peed in the backyard.

I’ve never understood the point of huge weddings. Most of them are just a silly expense and inconvenience for the guests. My sister’s was probably the only one I’d actually consider a good time but I live so far away from all my family even that wouldn’t be practical
My vision would be sign the papers and tell everyone after, and throw a party for whoever can make it

Very simple. Sign off on the documents and be done. I would never make a wedding and invite people. I am not that kind of person. My situation with my own family is shitty and I am already dating my partner that my parents and family will not approve of marrying if we were to marry each other and same to my partners family. If we're to marry, I would rather get a document, sign it, and be done with it.

I got married in a castle, outside. One of the hottest summers on record, it was 98 Degrees that day. Our caterer did a fantastic job keeping people refreshed and cool. people talk about it to this day and it was 15 years ago. I guess it's one they won't forget, lol!

I'm probably going to have a very small ceremony outside. It won't be officially a wedding, because if we do get married, she can't collect disability. However, we can have a commitment ceremony, which is the same as a wedding in legal matters. It's just, that the officer of the wedding won't call us man and wife.

Our was fine. Just about 30 guests, ceremony was ok. We just later had to wait for my dad who disappeared for some time. But in the end we enjoyed it. In erurope it is not common to have big weddings.
