Yes and no. I believe in the concept of marriage of the past. But today's marriage is very different. It's not safe or sufficiently beneficial for most men.

@Spencer10 In the past, a man would put in a hard day's work and come home to a clean and orderly home with dinner ready or in progress, and his marriage was much more likely to stand the test of time.

Today, a man still puts in that hard day's work, but on his way home he has to stop by the store or fast food place to pick up dinner, pick up dry cleaning or pick up the kids from daycare. He comes home to a messy house where there are chores to do, his wife is equally stressed from her day's work, one of them has to make dinner, the other will likely do the dishes. They'll help the kids with homework, go to sleep and get up the next day to do it all over again. When the weekend comes, instead just relaxing or doing something fun with the kids, they'll have to do all the chores that didn't get done during the week. The husband is less likely to be respected, admired and appreciated by his wife than his counterpart was decades ago, and there is a high likelihood his wife will eventually divorce him. Half of marriages today end in divorce, women file 80% of them, and men tend to get screwed in divorce court and child custody settlements.

In short, for men today, the risks and costs of marriage outweigh the potential benefits, which are fewer today than in the past.

@Spencer10 To answer your question directly, what would make marriage more beneficial are a more traditional marriage, courts being less biased, and women being less selfish and more fair minded in the case of divorce.
