Yes if you find the right person that loves you like you love them. that chooses you like you choose them Marriage is a beautiful thing , if you both truly love each other and want to spend the rest of your lives with each other through the good times and bad times. Whether you are religious or not , marriage is a bond that you both agree upon together. Relationships are t hard if you both truly love each other and choose each other , only selfish people ruin relationships and marriages. If you can’t sacrifice for your partner , then don’t expect them to sacrifice for you , For love to continue to grow , you both should be choosing each other and putting
Your selfishness aside for each other as well. If you can’t remove selfishness for your partner , then you will never experience true love whatsoever.
I've been married much of my adult life: 20+ years in my first marriage, 9 years and counting in my current marriage.
Yes I do. It is not only a legal contract, but also a vow of honor and solemn promise to love, honor and cherish for the rest of our lives, through good times and bad, in sickness and in health, until death do us part. For me, those things are unbreakable.
I always thought marriage was the most important decision I would ever make. I had to be careful to know that I was ready and that I was choosing the right partner to share the rest of my life with.
I wasn't in a rush to get married just to have kids.
I had long-term girlfriends from the time I was 16, but I wasn't ready for marriage and wasn't interested in having kids. I didn't want to be tied down with the obligation to care for anybody.
By my early 30s, I had traveled, experienced a lot and had lots of fun being carefree. By then, I was also settled in a really good job and had assets. I started thinking about starting a new chapter in my life and settling down with a life partner.
After a couple more long-term relationships, I met my future wife when I was 40. She is 2.5 years younger and had had a very active and fulfilling life up to that point. Neither of us had been married or had kids.
After going steady for a year, I was confident in her values and life goals and was sure that I could trust her. I felt like I could be happy spending the rest of my life with her, so I asked her to marry me and she accepted. We got married a year later.
We've been married now for 29 years, had LOTS of fun and built a wonderful life together. We are best friends for life and work to keep our relationship healthy by striving for each other's happiness and fulfillment.
She inspires me.
We care for and support each other through thick and thin. We are committed to the vows we made to each other.
We have benefited from our shared incomes and from legal married status.
Without marriage, I don't think people are as strongly committed.
I do.
Marriage is from God, created to unite a man and a woman together. It's a sacred covenant that people seem to have forgotten. With no fault divorce being a thing and now so-called homosexual marriage, marriage has lost its meaning. Widespread acceptance of divorce has weakened marriages. Marriage rates have been falling since late 70s (when contraception and no fault divorce have been normalized). It dipped even further in 2015, right when homosexual marriage got legalised in the US.
Now, since anyone can get in and out of marriage, it has lost its meaning. We see that with men who guzzled a lot of redpill content and regurgitating it here. We will see in the next couple of decades how these men are going to fare in the next couple of decades. This is just an equivalent of 3rd wave feminism but men, likely to regret being perpetually alone after spending years of "having fun" and riding the c*nt carousel.
Marriage has always been around and it has built civilizations. It's there for a reason. If it's destroyed, then kiss the civilization as we know it today goodbye.
PS
Your answer should of a received an MHO 😌
You are 100% right.
I don't believe in marriage as presently defined by the USA government. First of all, Homosexuals are not "married" in God's eyes. They are sinners. Pride is a sin too, Moderator, so having "Gay Pride" just makes them twice damned. I know you're going to delete and ban for me saying this, but Hell is a real place.
Secondly, given the way courts side with women 80% of the time in divorces, I'd advise men to NEVER get married, in particular since the courts also take around 2/3rds of your life income if you are married and end up getting divorced, regardless of who's fault it is.
Yes I believe in marriage. It helps build the society and teaches us how to value people and help us go through struggles with the help of the family. But these days the definition of marriage has changed significantly. People no longer care about supporting elders in their last phase of life. Family is about group of people. Blend of grandparents, parents and our childern. But now, it's only about couple and busy jobs. leaving elders and kids alone. In my opinion, marriage is not just about couple, it's about a family.
Any longtime, serious, committed relationship is a "marriage," whether you have the paper and ceremony or not. I happen to like the ceremony that celebrates a couple's official start of their lives together. Great excuse for a grand party. Will be going to a cousin's daughter's wedding in Feb. Black tie and gowns adult affair! No kids! There is gonna be some cutting up!
I voted Yes, however it's had a weird relationship to my brain, my mind, my views.
🧠 👀 It's something very for a select few 💍 💍 and that's if they can even afford it - and the pressures expectations to actually want to have offspring, to have a mortgage, etc
The only benefits to monogamy aka a marriage, unless partners these days plow the fields before settling down, is monogamy equalling reducing risks of spreading or contracting sexual diseases, supposedly
And the supposed certain legal benefits that married couples have like hospital visitation rights, or something shrug 😔
I do, yes.
Unfortunately, I no longer have enough trust in women to believe that I will ever find one that would honor her vows. I'm sure they exist, but given the number of women who are not trustworthy, it's not worth the gamble.
In a time where men and women are equal, marriage has not yet adapted to that fact and as societal institution massively discriminates men. So I would say from a female perspective you should marry. From a male perspective, you'd be dumb to marry.
I don't believe in legal government marriage, and i don't believe in the overly expensive flaunting ceremony originally meant for rich people to flaunt wealth and status. I believe in the simpler marriage ritual of dress in your nicest clothes, and have your local religious leader do the ritual in an affordable or scenic area, use promise items or metal band rings, and have a potluck with a bonfire.
Absolutely not. Marriage has a 70% chance statistically of failure by divorce within the first 5 years. Unfortunately, men get victimized financially and emotionally in divorce courts by loss of their income, their property and their children. Women take advantage of this and get married for predatory reasons. There is absolutely no reason for any man to get married these days with the kind of thoughts that are against him. Women get married as a financial tactic.
With the median marriage being years and unilaterally terminated by the wife at least 80% of the time - what is there to believe in?
If can't be achieved by the median man and woman than it is a fairy tale.
Yes and no. I believe in the concept of marriage, and what marriage used to be. I do not believe in what marriage has become. It's generally a raw deal for men despite the nonsense "studies" that say married men fair better than single men. Those studies are deeply flawed.
Yes marriage is one of the top foundations of a society which is followed closely by family structure and community. Which all of these combined can assist in a healthy functioning community structure
It exists. Do I believe in what it represents? If it's taken seriously as vows should be, yes.
It's a legal contract. It has advantages and disadvantages. People who marry should try to follow whatever agreements they have with their spouse.
After 15 years of a wonderful happy marriage, all the signs point to YES!
I thought the question was 'Do you believe in Magic" LOLOL
It's only a legal agreement, it has nothing to do with wanting to be with that person of if that person is going to bring joy into your life.
I don't. Marriage is the worst thing that can happen to someone.
I do, but it has to be with the right person. She needs to be able to recreate certain feelings I have only had with one person.
Yes, but I'm only 50%. Odds are you're going to meet someone who doesn't or only believes in short term marriage. And I'm not down with that.
I used to but it doesn't have any more appeal after two divorces.
The tax breaks are worth it either.
Yes, it exists. I've seen it!
Between religious people yes. Between atheists no.
I've been married 10 years, together with my w for a total of 12 years. What does that tell you?
The only time I have zero belief in it is when leftists are involved.
Some days... I think most people are too selfish for marriage.
The concept, yes. Under current laws where I live, no.
Yeah, but only with a woman who knows her purpose
I believe marriage is used to transfer men's wealth to women.
not just to get married, no. i believe its good if its conducive to good breeding and raising children. people who get married just to get married are frankly stupid
Although i dont believe in it, I am married as it was what she needed to be her best self in our relationship because she believes in it
Yes , it is best form of relationship
Both partners take responsibility
Faker thank Bigfoot. It doesn't exist. Literally nobody marries.
Yes, of course I do. But I'm still not married... I've never been in a relationship.
