I wouldn't call it "old fashioned". There have always been people who didn't want kids. And there have always been people who wanted that "boring" life with marriage and a family. Raising kids is a unique experience that can make you grow as a person. The sacrifices are real but valuable as a tool for personal growth. Sacrifice, self control and discipline, teaching, learning about yourself, patience, joy, fun, all sorts of stuff.

Either choice is valid. Depends on your goals in life.

Because the alternative is population decline and unfulfilling perverse lives of misery. Take an Amish community. It's primitive but it functions. Now, look at San Francisco. Utterly degenerate with so much human shit in the streets there are shit maps to help you avoid it. People walk around naked, people commit abominable acts right in the street. Crime and drug addiction is rampant. Small wonder people seek the past staring a future like that in the face. Personally I think we should go forward not backward but you have to do the work, not just play pretend that every defect and depravity is "normal". Progress is adult work not work for emotional children.
