How about something like this? I would replace the animal figures with cut outs of the real bride and groom. Of course this cake is more for a small family get together and not a large wedding. One of my buttercream cakes could be used for a wedding. Or, for the politically charged bride and groom, how about my Trump cake?

Red velvet cake. Not only because it's super yummy (although I do love chocolate cake) but because when red colour came into my mind when I was thinking about your person. It's one of my favourite colours. So, my vote definitely goes to red velvet cake.
