What foods would you prefer to see/eat when attending a wedding reception?

Sure the wedding is about the actual couple but its also about the food lmao. I’ve had my reception menu listed down since I was a kid 😂 I won’t give away everything on it, but some self-serve things include strawberries, grapes, mixed nuts, cheese cubes, tea sandwiches, meatballs, mints/chocolates, and then a bunch of served appetizers (that you’d only expect a sports bar) and self-serve dessert stations (containing fun snacks you’d see at a carnival/fair). As for the main course, I want it plated and containing a veggie, baked mac, and mashed potatoes all served alonside some type of baked/grilled meats, I just dont know if it would be Chops, Chicken or Salisbury steak (or all three). (But it absolutely will not be lamb. I finally tried it a while back and it just smells awful). If it wasn't too informal, I’d absolutely do deluxe cheeseburgers. (Shoot still might as an app). 🤣 Shit even if i never marry, we’re still having some kinda celebration with all these tasty foods. I want a small, short ceremony/reception but a big wedding meal. People gonna be leavin with to-go plates 😂

Since I'll never have a big wedding, it's difficult to answer. However, the weddings I've enjoyed the most had a constant assortment of amazing apps that circulated and a limited, but high quality buffet. I don't care for being seated and waiting for each course.

So the apps included fresh shrimp, shrimp cocktail, bacon wrapped scallops, an assortment of veggie puffs, fresh oysters, caviar cups, amazing Thai spring and paper rolls, and things like that. It had a champagne fountain, open bar and a great dessert table. No one went home hungry, and it was all about the dancing and mingling and the newlyweds.

Well, I have to disagree here Desi.
Wedding is completely about food and making fun of the couple marrying🤣🤣.
Just kidding.
But I love wedding food for two reasons because of variety and second it's FREE 😎😎.
For starters I would like some sort of salads like chicken salad or Greek salad (except normal salad it tastes too plain) and Indian chaats.
Food is kind of different in India but I spicy foods of different variety including chicken would do for me.
As for dessert a healthy and yummy fruit salad or completely unhealthy lava cakes and that too a dozen. 😁😁

for my menu we will have a chicken option and a fish option and a vegetarian option. The fish will be honey glazed salmon with asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes. The chicken with me oven roasted with with the same two sides garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. The veggie option will be an assortment of vegetable sides.

It would depend on the guy I marry but if I was marrying a Chinese guy or a Christian guy, I would have drinks on tap and measured food for each table. Cause the last wedding I went to had shark fin soup and lobster and an ignorant person might hog all of it for himself if it was a buffet table type of meal.

Pick some foods of variety. Too many times its some rich fancy food that tastes like crap. Too many weddings I've been to have food that looks great but tastes worse than having a block of Casu Martzu. Its a situation of is this really what you consider great food on your yolo night? XD.

I like the baked mac idea and the fruits. I'm not going to be eating meat fish or fowl but it seems like there would be plenty for me on your menu.

I do like pasta (any shape) so I'd like to see that with a blue cheese sauce. I'm thinking new potatoes now too

If it was my wedding (theoretical because who knows if I get married)

Something logically bulkable like beef bourguinon, potato dauphinoise and vegetables

Various desserts like brownies or chocolate cake, cannoli and baklava, probably sticky toffee pudding as well

There's probably more but it's not at the top of my head

Possibly an open bar and definitely a cigar bar

Beer and pizza. The bride and groom are already married by this time and are ready to leave and start their honeymoon. No need for formal dinners. Just let everyone pass by the table and grab a pack of peanut butter crackers and a coke and be on their way.

My wife and I had a mix of things for both meatatarians and vegetarians. I actually did the grilling for a few wedding receptions in my day, bc the bride and groom wanted an outdoor wedding and reception.

I also hosted a couple of family weddings on my property as I have an area where a large tent fits out on the flat-rocks overlooking Georgian Bay and a white gazebo.

Depends on the time of day when the wedding takes place. If in the middle of the day; fruits, veggies and finger foods will suffice. If at night; I expect dinner. And I expect that dinner to include meat and potatoes.
