Is success mostly about luck or hard work in life?

Success at what? You have to define your goals. Different goals have different requirements. Sometimes you have to be born with certain abilities to get to a goal. Sometimes you can persistently work toward the end of a project. Sometimes you can get lucky by random chance. Sometimes it's who you know that opens opportunity for you because the system is controlled and excludes those who are not invited in and brutally punishes those who honestly compete. Sometimes what you think is success, really isn't and people trap themselves in corruption and evil in trade for certain things and then they can't escape and they just pretend to be happy on the surface even though they know they're fucked.
Some people run into good luck but I believe hard work pays off
I think it’s both
In my 20+ years coaching people, I’ve seen this pattern:
- Luck (where you’re born, family, timing, health) sets much of the starting line and some opportunities.
- Hard work + strategy decide how much you benefit from the luck you get.
Think of it as:
- Luck opens or closes doors.
- Hard work, skills, and relationships determine whether you’re ready when a door opens—and whether you can build new doors.
So: success isn’t “all merit,” but you dramatically improve your odds by working hard, learning constantly, and positioning yourself where luck can find you.

It's a lot of hard work. And at the same time its a little bit of everything
"Success" means something different to every individual. There are some common denominators surely, but we each have our own definitions. I think working smart is more important than hard work. Good fortune is never a bad thing, and perhaps it's true that "fortune favors the bold".
Luck never hurts.
Relying on hard work alone is a good route to success.
Relying on luck alone is only slightly better than impossible.
A bit of both... but generally show me a successful person and i will show you a hard worker.
A combination of both, plus i wonder why aren't you wearing a bra, do you enjoy being a cheap girl on the net! 🤔
Hard work. Luck is how stupid people describe statistics
Depends on you and your job/career.
Along with the people/company you work for.
It is both, but more hard work than luck in my opinion.
It is mostly hard work and preparation but chance (not luck) does play a role.
I think it's 50/50 chance. What do you think?
It’s the perfect alignment of all the stars.
A combination of both
Damn u look like a guy
First come hard work, then luck.
Hard work
For OF whores, it's just economics.
Its definitely about hard work
Both..
but it’s got more to do with hard work than luck
