Do you think it's stupid to buy yourself a promise ring?

I bought myself a purity ring when I was a teen, so why can't I buy myself a promise ring to represent the one I want to dedicate myself to? I know it's typical for the boyfriend to get the girlfriend a promise ring, but why can't she get it herself?

Also, don't judge, but my boyfriend is in jail right now so it's not like he can get me one.

A purity ring just means you're waiting until marriage for sex. A promise ring means you actually have someone you have plans to marry. You don't have to have someone for a purity ring. You can get a promise ring for yourself but it's pretty pointless and dumb to just buy one for yourself.

I heard promise rings could be bought by someone for themselves to emulate that their heart is with someone. But if that's your opinion, fine.
