I hate it, they should just stay in the help area and wait. If I need help I'll come ask for it, I don't need you walking around and asking if I need something every two seconds.

If I've asked them to help, awesome.
If not, then I'd rather they didn't. Don't mind being approached.
I hate it. When I have a question or need help, I will goto them. Someone following me around will make them lose a sale. Especially when shopping for cars.
They usually ask if I need help. I usually say No because I want to look for myself

Quite a routine in Asia, famously known in Japan. It is to establish a connection between consultant and client as an advisor to a luxurious, superior customer. Apparently, in USA, even though the difference of skill between a sales consultant and a medical doctor is absolutely obvious, the consultant does not care because of the "equality" privilege. Therefore, such a routine like this in USA is considered as a bothersome to the consultants, and the clients can totally sense the consultants' resistance.
I rather have a robot following me around in a shop. They're usually respectful and leave me be if I'm just browsing. But I actually like it when they offer to help cause sometimes I'm not entirely sure what I'm after and their questions help prompt me to explain what I'm after so they can ask better questions so I get to find more info to make the right decision.
I really don’t like it at all, in the worst cases I will leave quickly.
Nordstrom is the best model I will accept. They checkin with you but leave you alone after you say you don’t need help. If they see you struggling they come back.
Mattress stores are the worst as are certain furniture stores.I don’t go into stores where I know this to happen. If it happens I ignore them or I say something like I’m looking I’ll find you if I need help. If they follow me anyway I leave.
Basically, my thought is if I need or want help I’ll politely ask. I don’t mind them dropping by to let me know they are available and willing to help but please don’t follow me around unless I’m asking for help.Any good sales person will tell you that knowledge alone is not enough, it has to be relevant for the customer and delivered in the format that is most pertinent for him or her. The sales person needs to have a good knowledge of:
- The customer/human element
- Consultative selling/ convincing techniques
- His product and/or service offering
- Market and competitor
Interesting Question.
I am also a Management Student but I haven't choosed marketing. It's their job, and I cannot blame them for it.
I prefer to address them by myself in case I seek support. Most of the time I simply let them know that I am ok and ask to just let me look around.
Only in a few cases I had someone glued to my heels; I left the shop/s.If i have questions then its helpful. But if all im doing is looking or i know just what i want... get the crap out of my hair. Im polite and nice. But they get on my nerves sometimes. Like if i tell you im fine then say ok let me know if you have any questions. Dont freakin come back every 2 minutes to ask how i am.
None of these fit right. Could you go and get them in a different size for me?
We have a local store that does this crap. I abuse those poor employees. Gonna put someone to watch over me and say they're here to help? Then I'll use the help. One chick took it so well, though. She was awesome. Gave suggestions and everything. I tipped her 10% on the sly and told her that store didn't deserve herI hate it! In France they don’t do it a lot. Except in the fancy shop.
But in the U. S I THINK IT’s too much. Sometimes u just want to have a look, and they put pressure on uIt's annoying. I just tell them , politely, that i don't need their help just now, but if i do, i will give them a shout. They just usually smile, say "ok" then walk away
should be attentive but not a pain in ass.. Should respond when asked for help not follow everywhere as if we were there to steal from their store if not kept an eye on
If it would be short and I wouldn't get bothered, I wouldn't mins so much. But of they would talk all the time and tell me what I could buy, I will punch them in the face
Supper annoying- unless it's Sephora cause I always have questions about skincare when I'm there. But if it's a grocery store or pharmacy, usually I know what I'm going in to buy and if I have questions I'll find an employee myself.
Following is creepy, but it's fine if they ask if I need help, because sometimes I do
I fucking hate it. Do not help me unless I ask for it. If they just come and ask if I need help it's okay. But to continually follow me. I hate it. Especially because I'm an introvert
I'm brown so it makes me think they think I'm cheap or tryna steal. So no go away Kthx.
Annoying, but understandable.
I like to take my own time, but they need to make sales as well.I feel like im gonna smack them because they try to get you to buy the most expensive things
NO, I DON'T WANT TO BUY YOUR DAMN CAR! (っ'-')╮=͟͟͞͞) ꐦ°᷄д°᷅)
It really depends on their manner and whether they make me feel valued or seem to be intrusive.
