my boyfriend 30th birthday coming up and I haven’t bought anything for him. I went to the mall and there wasn’t anything so I asked him what he wants and told me he wants a designer belt that cost $550 . That would be the most expensive gift I ever buy him but he hasn’t bought me any expensive gift like that and My birthday a week later and I’m not sure if I should expect him to get me something because he hasn’t been working everyday due to lack of work

His birthday is on the 20th and mine on the 27th I would be upset if I end up buying him that belt and he gets me nothing or says “ I don’t have enough money “ he just bought car and says he has bills to pay. On Valentine’s Day I expect nothing or maybe I did ( not going lie) but he didn’t get my anything. I have told him I don’t really like flowers so I guess I understand. I don't know if I should get expensive gift I DONT want get my feelings hurt on my birthday lol 😆

I'd say don't get anyone a gift that you truly aren't excited to get for them. Especially if you're going to get hurt if they don't spend a certain amount on you in return.
You can get him a gift card or money towards the brand/ store if you want.
Or just buy him something that you personally want to get him.
I personally love birthdays so i like to go ham on "special numbers" such as 30.

Not a chance would I ever buy someone a $550 belt. I'd totally spend that money on a friend (in fact I just bought a friend a new bed and mattress because she couldn't afford it) but it's the idea of a belt or any item of clothing costing that much that does my head in.

Don't do it. Just because someone asks for a certain gift doesn't make you obligated to get it. Get him something on a similar level of expense as the gifts he's given you.
