+1 yonly bid once on ebay for this sports bra but i was so naive with how I went about it. Whenever the other person outbid me I would quickly outbid them not realizing that it could be a bot or the very seller using an alternative account to increase the item price before the countdown runs out so they can maximize their selling profits smh. I definitely didn't win but I learned a lesson haha. I now only big or I guess "bargain" when it comes to poshmark, I'm such a sucker for cute clothes that are out of stock so I can feel unique in them. 🤣
YES! Glad you won it01 Reply- +1 y
Yes its super obvious that mine had to be the seller under a second account because they stopped bidding against me once i reached the max i messaged them as an offer lmao

+1 yI knew people who used to sell on auction and they would have friends with their accounts bid the items up, to see the real interested buyer increase the bid. I have but not these days everything is so over inflated or rare or retro or vintage blah blah. You are not wrong even sellers families have accounts and are real accounts cause they buy other things and do not send up red flags, but then when the family member has an auction they drive the price up for the seller.

Sorry for your loss🙃.
-You are better off setting a price that you would pay plus $5.05 at a maximum bid. This way machine bids for you until your limit has been surpassed.
-Sometimes, my maximum bid is actually more than Sold price I receive. I’m a blow mold Christmas freak who inherited many that were made 1930-1970.
-People pay 2000.00 for right old ones. And, 600-1000 for right new ones. SO I buy new ones to sale and scout the sites for 1930-1970s.
Select highest bid and leave it. They will notify if you have been outbid.02 Reply- +1 y
I was a dollar less than my max bid so i didn't lose anything. Its just the fact i even had to go that high
In the future, you may just want to wait till seconds before the end of the auction and then put in your bid, not giving anyone time to beat it. Sometimes, people bid a high amount from the start. The bid that shows is the opening bid, not the highest bid. Click on bids and then on show automatic bids. That will show you if they bid high to start. That could be the reason the price keeps jumping by 50¢.

Yea well they tried to outbid me the last 10 secs but i got their ass
- +1 y
I agree. Wait and then do the old snipe routine. @DizzyDesii you are to blame for making the price way higher by bidding early and often. Nothing good comes of that... well, except for the seller.

+1 yBeen there. Im kind of glad that i lost too. I am heavy into 3d printing. I was on shopgoodwill. com their auction stuff. Bidding on a printer, and i lost, and i am happy i lost because it sold for 150 ( i would have paid that by the way ) but the shipping on it ended up being 80 dollars. screw that.
02 Reply- +1 y
Omg $80 shipping is nuts. Mine was $7 shipping
- +1 y
That would have been worth it

+1 yYes. I've bus and won as well as lost at auctions and on ebay. Too many to remember really anything specifically exciting. I think a fall decoration was the first item I won on eBay and my heart was pounding. 😂
03 Reply- +1 y
*bid (not bus 👀)
- +1 y
It was definitely an adrenaline rush bt made me so mad haha
- +1 y
I'm glad you won 🙌
+1 yYep I have and thought it as fun. Truth is though, I don't bid on items that are rare. That way if I lose I'll just bid on a different one until I get the price I want.

Makes sense
+1 yWhen I was $10 I bid $1000 from my aunt's account. I meant to bid $100 but I was not wearing my glasses and hit an extra zero. She was pissed she paid $1000 for a copy of pokemon emerald XD I was just curious if it would work
00 ReplyJust before I purchased my Cessna 182 I made a bid on a Mooney M20 that was part of an estate sale. I lost that bid and my check was returned. I am batting about.500 on eBay auctions.
00 ReplyHaha all tricks are probably good to empty your pockets Desi. Enjoy having your collection and forget about the financial aspect 😉

+1 yYes eBay you can bid on things cheap but those last minute snipe bids suck lol. I gotten some great deals. You win some you loose some.

+1 yLol. You have to pay attention to these things. Always have a cutoff and don't go beyond your cutoff. No item is worth it. Always remember: "I CAN live without that."
01 Reply- +1 y
I spent a dollar less than my cutoff. Im just annoyed it got to the point of reaching my cutoff
+1 yI'm a coin collector and I often bid on coins to add to my collection on eBay. Sometimes I win... most of the time I lose. That's part of the fun.

+1 yyea just bid and won, but wasn't on ebay. that's kinda hopeless to compete against the world.
00 ReplyOh nope, I would only go there to hear the guy rambling. They talk so freaking fast
01 Reply- +1 y
I love how fast they talk. I get wet 🤣
I've bid on art and antiques. Have won a few. But never on line.
02 Reply- +1 y
I’d love to bid on art
+1 yWhy don't people who gamble or bid on things just do busininess investments instead?
010 Reply- +1 y
Because investing is boring. It lacks the adrenaline and excitement that I seek. A casino is like an adults amusement park. That was my first auction but will also be my last
- +1 y
Are you sure? I find it way more adrenaline pumping, because its a much higher chance to get rich lol.
- +1 y
I care more about enjoying what i’m doing then the actual money im making
- +1 y
I see the money I'm making as my only way to afford to do what I enjoy xD
Being an artist is expensive af x_x - +1 y
Its not though. Its all in how you go about it
- +1 y
Now you're just being silly.
Either that, or you know how to get brand new high end equipment for cgi, digital drawing, animation, software development, etc for dirt cheap?
Please be the latter? ^-^' - +1 y
Im old school artistic. I still prefer a canvas with pencils/paint brush etc. I’m not inspired by digital art. Even when i wanted to be an architectural drafter, I wanted to do it the old way of pen/graph paper
- +1 y
Thats too limiting for me, there are so many ways I want to create, things I want to create, or already have, and a peice of canvas or paper is mechanically unable to convey most of it.
- +1 y
I respect that. I just have a different sense of creativity
- +1 y
Fair enough.
822 opinions shared on Shopping & Gifts topic. I usually bid on items in silent auctions. I have never won since I always lowball it.
02 Reply- +1 y
Whats a silent auction
- +1 y
@DizzyDesii There are items that are being auctioned off and there is a form that people fill out with their bids. At the end of the day the person that bids the highest will win.
I used to bid on stuff when I was younger. I used to get cases for my iPod touch at the time.
04 Reply- +1 y
So you mostly won?

I bid 17 times 😭
+1 yI bided on a used car once and the other guy outbid me. But I was not too mad I got more money and bought a better newer car still used but better.

00 Replystop bidding the person that's out bidding is the person selling it wait to the last second and bid then so they can't out bid you

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yis this on ebay, yes they have a major shill bidding problem going on right now. they mess with my stuff all the time.
04 Reply- +1 y
Mess with it how?
Opinion Owner+1 yif you sell, they bid up your item high and then don't pay. if you bid, they have multiple accounts to bid it up and try to make people pay higher prices.
- +1 y
Yea im not even surprised smh
Opinion Owner+1 yit's a massive problem in the sports card/comic book market which I'm in. It's against the rules, but ebay hasn't done much to fight it so far. pretty sure shill bidding is illegal everywhere, soooo... I don't know man. Not surprised to see it carry over into other items. I try things like checking the bidders. see if they have a buttload of bid cancellations on their history. that's a dead giveaway that it's a shill. cuz they try to drive up prices but they don't want to be the one to win it. so if they accidentally win, they retract their bids. That's one thing you can do to help yourself.
+1 yThose you have to just sit back and watch until the last few minutes, then post your bid
04 Reply- +1 y
I know but i also realize they do the same
- +1 y
True, that's why you bid it at $10 more than what's there. Most will go 5 or so.
- +1 y
It only allows you to choose up to $3 more at a time. And the person kept outbidding me by 50 cent
- +1 y
Probably just trying to run the price u9
