I've been to live auctions with my parents when I was younger and agree most everything is junk being moved from place to another place. One funny however was some really weird brand of cigarettes being auctioned off a carton at a time. My duh father bought one carton and all I remember later was when he lit one was how fast it burned and how horrible it smelled. Needless to say 9 packs and one pack minus one cigarette went directly to the garbage

I've been on Ebay and bought a few things I couldn't get elsewhere. But I prefer the 'buy it now' option. In the end, you pay a fair price and don't have to deal with the hassle of following it up daily.

The auctions are OK, unless you have 2 people bidding against each other. I've watched a few items going up way over the price they would be worth under normal circumstances. I find you have to set a limit for yourself and not get carried away.

I've been to cow auctions and to horse auctions. Once I went to an estate auction. I bought a brass mirror that can go backward or foward 360⁰. It stands about 7 inches tall. I like brass so I bid on it. I got it for like a buck or two. I've had it since '95.

My town closed one of the schools and auctioned off all the furniture. I bought 3 old style desks and chairs for my kids really cheap

I’ve only done auctions on eBay and I usually win but it depends on how bad you want it because sometimes the spending goes over what it’s really worth if you’re not careful

My friend got a truck at auction in the early 2000s and I got a $2,000 guitar amp for $730 bucks from an online estate sale auction about 6 years ago. I have been on various things and won them on eBay and Goodwill's website
