What the hell am I supposed to do about this mattress situation?

So last week, I ordered my brother a new mattress because his old one was too hard. Then we were discussing what to do with the old one. Once the new one arrives. That I suggested we give it away. Either to the furniture store or thrift store.

So I called both stores, just to be sure. That neither of them accepts used furniture. Till the furniture store give me a number to contact someone else who does. It was another thrift store next town over.

I called the new number and asked if they accept old/used furniture. And the old man was thrilled that I have a mattress to give away and he was very interested.

Now fast forward to last Sunday. I called the old man and told him the mattress is ready to be picked up. Then he explained that he is in a different state, visiting his grandchildren and he’ll call a friend to pick it up.

So, I explained this to my mom and brother. So we could be ready for once this guy shows up. We can help him out to load it up. Well, my brother fell asleep late in the morning and doesn’t want to be bothered. That I called my mom to come over and she said “no” and “to leave my brother alone and not let strangers in the house.” 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

What am I supposed to do?

Ignore your mother, then the problem goes away.

But its only a mattress, you should be able to move it to the front door yourself just make sure you clear yourself a path so that things dont get knocked onto the floor etc.
