"Can I go to jail for unauthorized credit card payments?

Hi everyone my mom told me for my birthday 23rd on may 28th I could order stuff online then later she calls wells Fargo banking to dispute the charges the total was $77.51 cents they took her statement to claims they are investigating the transactions they need the tracking numbers but the bank said if the items are sent back she can get her money back but the vendors say they don't do returns or exchanges the sales are final on all the items i never been in trouble before or anything it would be my first time :l

What could be done & can I still face legal action from law enforcement

Technically yes, but not likely for that amount. Also, do you live with her? If the items were sent to that address it is unlikely that credit card company would ask to press charges, or that the D. A. would file them.

Yes I live with my mom she gave her card to me then told them she didn't I live in Maryland state

Sorry it took so long to answer. VERY unlikely that they will prosecute, especially when the items were delivered to the card holder's address. The authorities, if they considered it at all, would probably tell her it is a civil matter.

Does your mom have dementia? She told you that you could charge something for your birthday. Also you need to find out if your mom added you as an authorized user or a primary card user. An authorized user is not responsible for the debt incurred on that credit card. Another thing Wells Fargo is likely not going to go after $77. Your mom is going to wish she had not done this because chances are they are going to issue another card. In my opinion your we're authorized to use it because your mom told you that you could. If it were me I would never use her card again. I would give the card back to her and chalk it up as season learned.

Law enforcement isn’t going to do anything for $77.51, it’s not worth there time. Also but why the heck would your mom say you can do that then change her mind
