Who does most of the grocery shopping in your relationship? Is anyone like me, where you would rather do it because you know the right stuff to get?

I usually do most of the cooking, so I do most of the grocery shopping. A few times, I sent my boyfriend and he ended up buying some of the wrong things. Obviously, not his fault but I hate it when they’ll buy certain off brand products when I specifically wrote down what brand to buy! I also enjoy shopping. So, who does most of the shopping in your relationship?

My wife does most of the shopping for a couple of reasons.
1. We live in a rural area and she's in town more often than I because she works there four days a week. Aside from the usual large chain grocery stores, she also goes to smaller markets and places that sell organic food.
She also makes runs to Trader Joe's and Costco every three weeks or so because it's easier to get there from town than from our house.

2. She's like you. She's a picky eater and she does most of the cooking, so it's easier for her to get what she'll eat. I hate it when I go to the store and she complains that I didn't get the right thing (s). LOL

I really don't care for cooking. And when I do, it usually contains things that she doesn't care for. It's a good thing that I enjoy her cooking and am not picky. She's actually a great cook.

3. When I go shopping, I tend to look for deals. I'll buy seafood for the freezer, frozen meals that I can eat when she's not home, canned food, stuff from the deli, and snacks. 😂

I’m fortunate, because my boyfriend will eat whatever I put in front of him! He won’t even ask what it is. I am a picky eater and don’t know how I would handle it if he also was.

Ironically, my fiancee works at a major grocery store, but she does not do any shopping when she is at work. We usually go shopping together. She is Chinese and her food preferences are different from mine, so she makes most of the selections but I go along to veto anything that sounds too outrageous to bring home (like octopus eyeballs.) And, frankly, I enjoy doing mundane things like grocery shopping with her.

She works for Publix, which is a very good, high quality chain of grocery stores in the Southeastern US. It has a limited selection of international foods, so we also periodically visit Asian markets.

by the way, she is not bothered at all by the word "Oriental."

I do especially because I like to keep track on how much I am spending. And I like to over stock on food. I only go grocery once a month. I do the maal prep planning for the week. Jeez can't your spouse not focus? I bet even a 6 year old can figure that out.

I used to do it together but I have expensive taste! Lol so he spent the entire time complaining about me not buying off brand. Some things I will but something’s I won’t. Like I would tell him, “why don’t you buy a ten dollar bottle of rum, instead of the thirty dollar bottle”. 😂

I also make sure we don't go when she's craving absolutely everything... or myself, lmfao

You being a man I have a question. When you buy tools, whether tools to work on a car or electric/cordless tools, do you buy cheaper brands or do you tend to buy the best?

I buy the best. I have a Craftsman toolset I bought in high school that I still use. I use them a lot too.

Unfortunately they have no program with special rates that people with disabilities can go grocery shopping, so I rely on Walmart. com sometimes they have everything I want and other times they may not and this year I'm stuffing two whole chickens plus having some side dishes. I would like to go together but it always ends in an argument. I take too long or I spend too much! I like the “I spend too much” part, as he starts loading the cart with forty dollar bottles of booze! 😂 I do like how he eats anything I put in front of him, though. I’m a picky eater, so I cook basically what I like and he always says how good it is. To me, that’s true love! Because if he didn’t like it, I’d probably have to kill him.

Nothing major…For example, I like to make artichoke dip, taco dip, veggie pizza….. So, I like to get name brand cream cheese, sour cream, shredded cheese, cherry 🍒, pizza crust blah blah and he’ll start telling me how much I’ll save if I buy store brand and I’ll calmly say, “But I don’t want store brand”! Then we’ll pass the liquor isle and he’ll grab a couple bottles of Sailor Jerry’s spiced rum at forty dollars a bottle and I’ll ask him why he isn’t getting “Admiral Nelson’s” at fifteen bucks a bottle. His answer, “I ain’t drinking that piss water”! 😂 That’s kinda when we made the agreement, I cook, so I’ll grocery shop. You drink, so you do your thing. 😂 It’s been a wonderful relationship ever since!

I do it. And almost all the cooking. My wife didn’t learn to cook and doesn’t know what to buy. And when she goes grocery shopping she tends to buy half the quantity and spend twice as much.

Me too. It relieves stress for me. People think I’m weird, because I also like to clean. When I was young, I would get home from school and start dusting and vacuuming, I’d clean the bathrooms, and I enjoyed it. 😂 I also love to cook.
