Why are similar items priced much much higher for me that my boyfriend?

I was shopping with my boyfriend. I noticed that various garments that are very similar to what I buy were priced lower. Why do we have to pay soooo much more for similar clothing items?

Because most men won't pay high prices for clothing.

Companies will charge as much as they can as long as people pay it. So if women's clothing is more expensive, its because women are still paying for them when prices get hiked.

Meanwhile men tell the clothing manufacturer to go fuck themselves by simply buying cheaper clothing elsewhere, so most expensive men's clothing doesn't sell well, and is thus rarer.

Most men do not care about fashion, so we are willing to buy dirt cheap boring clothing.

You don't. You make a choice to spend more and then complain about it. You could just as easily buy the same clothes he is buying, but you want something to complain about because you lack any sense of personal responsibility and want to pretend to be a victim.

You're talking about the "pink tax". In garments it's because men's trousers and shirts are square and can be made on a square rig. It's faster and easier to make square stuff than contoured stuff.

"Pink Tax." I have never heard of it referred to that way. That is a cute way of explaining it. Pay more for clothes because we are women.

We also tend to refuse to buy expensive clothing even if its more comfortable or more durable or still square rig made, so anything more costly is further removed from supply because the demand is very low.

Not to mention that the most comfortable male clothing tends to also be the cheapest anyway, so paying more for uncomfortable stuff is just seen as crazy.

Your only viable solution is dress like a guy.

Buy baggy sweats, t-shirts, underwear, and hoodies made for guys, and don't wear a bra, and don't pay if prices hike. Instead go to another store and get it cheaper, even if you can afford the most expensive clothing on the market and the other store is across town or you have to order online.

Supply and demand.
If a company can get you to part with your money, they will. It's up to you as a consumer to look around for the best deals, as opposed to going where the advertising is better!
After all, the more money spent on advertising, the higher the prices will be!

Update:- I realise you are talking about differences in men's and women's clothing, but if you shop around, you will find the same item only cheaper without the advertising costs!
