Is it ok to continue giving gifts?

My oldest friend doesn’t have the time or money to buy gifts anymore, because she and her husband have one income and a little girl. They’re expats. Also, she lives in a tiny apartment.

Should I continue giving her gifts, as long as they’re small (jewellery from pawnbrokers)? She likes nice things. I really don’t mind whether or not she gets me anything.

Gifts don't have to be expensive. You can give whatever you like. Even something as a food or dinner

I appreciate you helping out your friend, however, remember that they are both adults who should be able to take care of themselves and their child. It’s not your responsibility to give them gifts. If I were you I would encourage them to find jobs that will provide them with a better income. Don’t sacrifice yourself for other people, you also have a life that’s worth living.

Anonymous donations
Go to a donation place, like catholic charities. Put them on a list. They'll never know it was you and they will get what they need, especially for a young child.
