Can you destroy rare stuff to make things more rare?

Let's say for example there's a specific collectors item that only has 20 made in total and you buy all 20 and if not all 20 you buy more than one and destroy any duplicates you buy but keep one, wouldn't that increase value and you can sell the one you have for far more? 💀😂

I wouldn't buy an item to intentionally destroy it, to increase their value of similar items I owned.

But I perhaps do buy some old items that I should keep for posterity, and I wear them out instead, and therefore increasing the value of that item, for other people.

yeah but people usually just instead sell it for a bigger price lol bc they control it now instead of destroying them

it might take longer to sell initially but eventually it'll become the norm
