How far away is the nearest market store from your home?

I've learned that in the US, grocery stores are very far apart, so people do a lot of grocery shopping each month. How true is this? In my country, there are markets within 5-10 minutes of homes. People can get what they need right away.

It depends on the area. More rural places in the US will likely have grocery stores spaced out pretty far apart as it’s a large area with very low population counts. However, more urban areas and areas closer to the city will have an abundance of such stores.

There are two big box stores that are about 10 minutes from me.

I live in Seattle. The supermarket is three blocks away. We often walk there to buy groceries. For the really bulky or heavy items we drive.
