What souvenir can I bring with me from Germany to US?

What is a nice gift for an American? I don't know if I'm allowed to bring food across the border, or what kind of food I'm allowed to bring. So preferably nothing edible. When I travel to America for a visit, what can I bring with me from Germany?

I'm gathering ideas.

As far as I know they are mostly concerned with bringing in agriculture products:

"All travelers entering the United States are Required to Declare meats, fruits, vegetables, plants, seeds, soil, animals, as well as plant and animal products (including soup or soup products) they may be carrying, along with any biological materials. The declaration must cover all items carried in checked baggage, carry-on luggage on a person, or in a vehicle."

Thank you :-) I'd rather not take any chances. No matter what it was, if I had to throw food away, I would feel very sorry. There are so many people who are starving. I'd rather not even consider things I'm unsure about. That's why I'd rather look for something else.

Yes, vegetables and fruits and seed seem to be forbidden.

I am looking 'Border Security' and they always ask for food. Cheese is forbidden, sugar cane...

Most processed foods are allowed for entry into the US. Raw foods, including meat, fruits, vegetables, nuts and plants are not. Weapons, or anything that might look like a weapon, are nor allowed. Most alcohol is allowed, though there are limits. Same for cigarettes and tobacco products.

Just Google what is allowed and what is prohibited to bring into the United States. That should take you to one of several US websites that deal with customs and immigration, and you should be able to find a detailed list of what's allowed, and what isn't.
