I did today. They are so sweet to have done this. They knew I wanted to get a new hobby and that hobby is drawing so I am forever grateful for them for doing this.

I've recently been gifted ongoingly by my late wife's sister, as well as being gifted with much help from one of my own sisters.
Their gifts were, and are, caring for us/me and taking care of us/me in many ways during the fairly recent last days of my late wife's brain cancer and also going forward in getting my life put back together as a single man.
@nolabels Brother this took me back to when my mother died while I was in college. I absolutely would have completely crumbled if it weren't for the friends of my parents helping me out. I am forever grateful for that, and to them.
Yes, to me, to need help so crucially and then receive it from those who love us is nothing short of miraculous.

My condolences to you, even though it appears that the loss of your mother apparently occurred quite some time ago. Our loved ones don't stop being our loved ones when they pass.
Yeah, I was in dire need of money a decade ago and a fairly casual friend of mine gave me over $4000. I mean, he'd been to my house a few times and we both collected break-in records but, I hardly knew the guy!
VERY much so!! I intend to pay him back, even though it was a gift, I just can't afford it, at the moment, thanks to my aunt!! I would've paid him years ago had it not been for her stupidity!!
My friend group does. I don't like celebrating my birthday and people will say they want to get me something anyway but they don't know what to get and I'll say why don't you just let it come to you when it comes? And then you don't have any pressure, the intended meaning will be received and you might even be able to regift something.
I'd rather get a cool postcard from a work trip than or something that has some kind of meaning attached to it so when I look at it or use it, I'm thinking of them and it makes me smile... Usually.

That is awesome! I have had this happen a few times but of course I can't remember the gift exactly. But the gesture was remembered. I would suggest a small gift for your hosts this weekend... glad you are having fun.
because I used to "pay all the time" when we would go out, you know... they were the ones in college and expenses, while I was the one not in college, and working a lot, lmao
so... "money's short" was never an excuse if I was there
and then, they got me a really nice car... not a brand new one, lol... but definitely one I loved to have
