I have an eye for beauty. I ordered my cousin a pink Swarovski crystal flower for her birthday and had it shipped interstate for her. All my extended family found it beautiful and amazing, I’m told. My aunt in particular, who hinted at wanting one herself, for her next birthday. I was surprised. To me, I know intellectually that it’s beautiful, but it fails to impress me.
I’ve also decided to give other things in future to my cousin; cultured pink pearls, a vintage, silver plated vanity set and a glittery dolphin plate and vintage jewelled butterfly bookmark. Amongst jewellery, books and cute tote bags and cheeseboards, change purses.
I know my cousin will love these things; and I understand why, but to me, these lovely things are just clutter that I could do without. I feel like I only keep most of my beautiful things because my parents would be upset if I got rid of them. When my parents pass away and when I’m old, I will give them all to my cousin. I’m saving them for her. All I want is my one diamond ring, my simple hand bag and my phone.
