When you go shopping, do you prefer when they check on you, or would you rather shop on your own and ask for help only if you need it?

Personally, I like to shop by myself and ask for help only when I need it. Yesterday, I had an awkward moment with a nice department store employee that made me think about this…I avoided eye contact with him at first, but then we greeted each other and both ended up laughing😄…

I’m always polite when the salesperson checks on me. I’m not someone that aimlessly shops. I go into the store for a reason. Usually, I know what I want. If not, I’ll ask for help.

I'm also the "I'm gonna ask you when I'll need it" type. That's mostly because I'm not fond of transactional interactions. Some employees feel more authentic sometimes, but that's too rare

I'm like to do things on my own but there are moments when your looking for something and can't find it and need help but that's when I can never find anyone for that to lol

I prefer to ask myself for help if needed. Usually I'm best browsing myself. I don't mind if they ask once at the beginning but I hate it if they keep asking stuff.

I don't like unwanted help, following me around, or being greeted like they’ve been waiting all day just to sell me something. I found it pretty uncomfortable when I first experienced it as a tourist, because where I live, they don't do that. If you have a question, you just go and ask.

Both depends on where I'm at. I appreciate that they check on you especially if you look like you are in need. If they keep asking while I'm doing fine that gets annoying.

I don’t need help I can reach everything that there is to reach and I know where things are located. But if I ever need help, it would be nice to see that they’re available and willing to do it

The second one. In the US, it's still not so bad. In other countries they literally follow you around.

The thing is though, when you DO need an employee, they're nowhere to be found

As a retail worker I never bother anyone unless they ask for help. Or actually look lost and need something.
