It works like this.

You buy, give, or recieve a "gift card" or "e gift card".

That $ is never spent... either too small to use somewhere, lost, put away... to the tune of over 23 billion a year.

The $ sits on the books of the company until a certain time, expiry, they can wipe it off their books and take the 100% profit!

If so, could you send me your gift cards so I can spend them.

Watch out for tricky businesses suckering you into buying products that waste your hard earned money!

Not always. I usually buy gift cards for people and places I know it will get used at like Steam or Amazon. As for me using them, I only ask for Steam gift cards where they absolutely get used, but I did get gifted a $100 Playstation gift card years ago that I still haven't used. I just don't play it so there's no point in using it. I would trade it for a Steam gift card if someone wanted to swap it lol

that's a good plan. never heard of steam, but if you know is used, all good.
there's web site where can swap or sell. They can expire... and some can be hard to use.

That gift card scam picture isn't referring to the small amounts left on gift cards, it's thieves intercepting the card when you activate it and draining the money from it.

When I get gift cards I usually redeem them pretty quick. I have a couple of hundred dollars in Dunkin Donuts gift cards but the donuts are so bad that they are all sitting in my desk drawer.
