I know target, Walmart and staples have sales years around this time.
i am not in the states now.
but my school has purchased every student a supply set. So the parents do not have to. We have over 1000 students in our school.
we also have too much supplies in our classroom… I don’t know what to do. I have donated a lot to afternoon programs. I also gave back to the students so they have a supply set at home to use. We have too too much.
That is a big school. Also nice that the school provides a supply set. I also found good deals at Walmart yesterday for when I go back. I think I spent $47 and had a cart full of pens, notebooks, folders, etc. I was surprised how well I did considering how high prices are on everything these days.
Wishing you a good start with your students!
Omg!! I wish I can give you all the folders, notebooks, pens and pencils to you!!
I most have 3-4 sets of black and white composition notebooks in my classroom. 5000 pens and pencils.!!
I remember these stores sell notebooks for $1. really cheap. I also noticed once the sales are over… the 📕s are sold for $299 ea.
you did well! 👍😊
I heard our student body shrunk because 87 families moved away. I it’s more like 1032 left in our school. We have over 100 staff!! Yeah big a school.
Yeah! I was super pleased with how much of what I need for two semesters I was able to get in one trip and for less than $50. They were basic things but need them nonetheless.
I still have to do the more expensive stuff for dorm life, something that certainly adds a bunch. My roommate and I have a pretty good list split up. For the stuff needed for classwork, I am very pleased at what I got for the money.
See when you get good deals makes you happy! 😃 good job. When do you begin your Fall semester?
Haha yes! Definitely happy.
First day of classes are August 24th. I am planning on going the 20th with my stuff. Coordinated that with my roommate who will come the next day. That way we aren't bumping into each other moving back in. I can also help her. I will have help from my parents and brother.
My daughter’s friends are actually going back soon as well like mid August. You are so kind ! ❤️
Just realized you are the same age as my daughter 😂
Haha yes. 19 and feel like I'm going on 30 with all I juggle.
Okay… if you can manage and still be happy and healthy. ❤️
Aww thanks. Yes, I manage. I just cram as much work into the summer months. My job is not bad though.
I work at a local hotel/resort at reception. We have lots of downtime outside the typical busy hours.
The Dollar Tree has a lot of good deals when they stock the shelves with their Back to School season.
I was able to get all the basics at Walmart like pens, tablets and folders... tape, staples etc etc for $47. I was very pleased with the amount I got for that much.
@Massie
Sounds like you made out like a bandit.🙂
Shopping for back to school items has always been one of my favorite times of the year.
I was very pleased with getting a year's worth of the basics for notes and class stuff for basically $50.
Being in a dorm, we have other needs like detergent and all that stuff, but me and my roommate split that list up.
Not really, but I'm helping with a backpack drive this year bc a lot of parents can't afford the current rates.
That is such a nice thing to do! Kudos to you for helping out.
Thanks. I think it will be more of a trend bc a lot of parents are struggling (esp those with more than one school-age kid).
It is tough with all the stuff kids need these days.
I know! But also I work with teachers to make sure to manage their expectations. There is no need for EVERY PARENT to bring in THREE ROLLS of paper towels as if the school does not have a budget for paper towels.
There is no need for every child to bring in a box of pencils -- which they lose, etc.
And actually, I'll share that I tell the parents to keep their kid's initials on EVERY LITTLE THING they send in the backpack so the teacher doesn't "forget and repurpose" the crayons/markers/etc.
I then write a note to the teacher, "Here are the supplies coming with [NAME]. This child is one of five, so supplies are being evenly distributed among the children. IF you find yourself running low on a particular supply, please email [MY EMAIL] and I will personally bring it in the next morning."
I've never been emailed by a teacher for an extra supply.
Schools have budgets for supplies and yet no one thinks to question "Can Tommy get a pencil from the main office?" But a teacher can take a crate of paper home "for work". Right... (Don't get me started. I've been dealing with this crowd for decades. The nice me just collects and packs the backpacks.)
Sadly my state doesn't have tax free back to school weekends anymore.
That's too bad. It is so expensive anymore, regardless what level of school you are talkiing about.
I see them on Amazon all the time.
Not yet, they're all still clearing summer stock here but probably start soon
Found some good ones on Amazon.
I haven't checked there yet. Just happened to be out and about with a friend yesterday and stopped at a Walmart to see what deals they had. Got a decent amount of stuff stocked up now.
Nice. I am too lazy. We are leaving on our trip in a little bit. I'll keep loading up my cart and place an order so it is home just as we get back.
I have plenty of downtime just riding along.
I didn't realize that was today! Have a great time and hopefully good weather.
Thanks, girly. Today is nice. Sunny and calm to get to Buffalo. Then the weather turns, BUT we enter the canal system where even if bad weather it will be calm. You also can't go fast in the canal.
I just don't want to be cooped up in the boat for long periods. No one does. So, hopefully we get breaks in the rain to get outside.
Well I wouldn't mind being stuck on that thing haha. Hopefully you are right though. Have fun!
Ty!!
I've heard some.
