Do German guys say "darling" a lot?

I met a German guy recently, he's just a friend but I think I'm getting signs he's interested, including him hanging around me. But one of the things is that he calls me "darling" and "honey", I know I'm stereotyping, but this doesn't seem at all German, so is this maybe another sign that he's keen?

They say, "Schatz" in germany, Literal translation would be Treasure (Remember "my Precious" from LOR?) :p. Some girls/moms like to say, "Schatzy".

"Meine Liebe" is another alternative, means my Love or Mi Amor in Spanish or Italian..

No, they don't. Does he say that to other girls? That would tell you if it's unique to you/girls he's interested in, or not.
