Are You A Fan Of Shooting Or Do You Feel Differently?

Are you a fan of shooting? Or do you feel differently?

I hear a lot of people that tell me they aren't against shooting guns, they have just never been given the chance to get time behind a rifle or a pistol for that matter. I don't know if it's just me, but I feel like the more experience you have behind any type of firearm, the more respect you learn to give to something so powerful. Yes, guns can take lives, (Quite frankly, they do every day overseas...), and I can understand why some people tell me they are completely against allowing guns to be a part of their lives. Personally, when I hit about the age of 14 my Dad took me shooting at an outdoor range while we lived in Georgia. The first thing my Dad taught me, and ensured that I could comprehend, was muzzle awareness and how easy it is to lose track of where your firearm is pointing when you have a lot of other shooters on both sides of you. The first gun he taught me to fire was the biggest one he felt I could handle (For those of you who know ammo, it was a .338 Lapua). I got one shot off and was scared of the fact that it had as much recoil as it did. At that, my Dad told me to take that same feeling of fear and apply it to what someone feels when their life is endangered by someone not practicing proper gun safety. To this day, I still believe that the analogy he used is so accurate that I haven't tried to find any other way to explain the direct correlation from the power that you feel from the recoil, to the true amount of power (and lethal potential) that ANY firearm possesses. Anyways, I really hope to hear some others' opinions about what your feelings are in regards to how comfortable you are with guns, and why, why not, you feel that way. Thanks everyone!
