5 Reasons That Prove Your Life is a LIE and Why Reality is an Illusion

Here are my 6 reasons that justify why reality is an illusion.

1. 10% to 15% of your memories never actually happened

Memories form a huge part of our identity, they are basically who we are, which is why it's kinda disturbing to learn that they don't really exist. Memory recall is actually very similar to imagination and your brain "regenerates" memories every time you want to remember them. This is usually fine for doing things like memorizing the route to school or work, or memorizing password, but some experiments have shown that it is possible for your brain to completely invent memories.

2. Love Is Just Chemicals

This might be painful for you to hear, but love is basically just your brain's way of drugging you into passing on your genes, and nothing more. One of the chemicals we're involved with when it comes to love is, oxytocin. It generates a feeling of trust and contentment there is a lot of chemical trickery that goes on around love. So if you add up vasopressin, oxytocin, adrenaline, serotonin and dopamine it equals love. So you think what your feeling is real? Remember that its just a bunch of chemicals and nothing more.

3. I'm sorry to say this, but colour doesn't exist.

I'm not sure if its just me, but this is a huge let down for me. You can forget about the colour, since all colour is a illusion anyway. When you look at something, you are seeing it because the light in the room is bouncing off it and on to the rods and cones in your eyes. You experience different wavelengths of light as different colours in your brain but, outside of the squishy mass in your head, the object isn't actually coloured. Due to a little thing called colour constancy, your brain is always adjusting and filling in the colours you "see" based on environmental factors. This is why an orange will look orange to you whether it is in bright natural light or dim candlelight.

4. The Universe Is A Hologram

A hologram is Basically a 3D projection of an image on a 2D surface made up of teeny dots. You would find a hologram in a wallet, as they're often used to prevent people counterfeiting credit cards and banknotes, but there are people out there who think that you, your wallet and the entire universe is also holographic. Traditional physics describes spacetime as a four-dimensional structure in the form of smooth curves. However, quantum physics says that when you get up close to the fabric of the universe, it's actually made up of tiny grains that look an awful lot like the dots of a hologram. What's more, if you try to combine Einstein's relativistic and the spooky quantum descriptions of spacetime, you always end up a dimension short. Mathematically speaking, the universe is actually a three-dimensional projection existing on a two-dimensional plane. Could the real reason we have so much trouble marrying quantum and Einsteinian physics be that we're missing a dimension?

5. PLOT TWIST: The Universe is actually a computer stimulation

You might think that the idea of the universe as a computer simulation is reserved for the insane. but there are a number of physicists out there who think this is the truth. As our ability to develop more and more advanced computers increases, lots of people are questioning whether it would be possible to create one that could simulate a whole universe ... and whether this has already happened. The problem is that our universe works perfectly. Like, really perfectly. As far as we know, the laws of nature are universal, but we don't really know why, but could it be because they were just coded that way? As any programmer will tell you, no computer program is perfect, and that's how some think we might be able to spot the simulation. By looking for flaws in the 3D grid model assumed to be making up our fake universe, we might be able to lift the veil and look into the code beneath. If you think that sounds scary for us, imagine the horror of the being that created it \ discovering that their programme has become self aware.

Please, tell me you don't actually believe you've proved anything with all that PopSci. I'm sorry to say this but most of your take is either pure speculation or ill-informed.

1. Human memory doesn't work like a so-called computer "memory", surprise? Actually, the term "memory" used for computer storage is nothing but yet another misnomer in computing as consequence of anthropomorphic analogy abuse, which for its introduction we can blame John von Neumann (this is not to demean his work). Yes, we supposedly actually reconstruct our memories every time we recall them. This just goes to show that our brains are far from being 100% reliable. But otherwise, it gives us results good enough for many purposes.

2. Chemicals or whatever are observed to run around our brains while are experiencing something, is that such a big deal? And does it mean it's all there is to it? Not to mention that's a very narrow view of love. As an example, tell me: does making sacrifices for someone else, especially when they *don't* deserve it, sound like something that has anything to do with passing your genes? Sounds more like a good way to get yourself killed or pretty screwed up.

3. Color has never been a property of physical phenomena themselves. Color is, and has always been the fundamental element of what constitutes our visual experience. It's a sensory facility have that enables us to perceive certain aspects of the external world, which in this case, as the theories say, is based on electromagnetic phenomena in said external world. This just goes to say that there are objects in the external world and we can see them through the electromagnetic radiation they emit. What's so depressing about this?

4 & 5. No, there's absolutely NO justification for believing the universe is a "hologram" or "simulation". To make any convincing observation-based assertion about the actual way through which the universe subsists would at least require one to be outside the universe. Have you ever been outside the universe, mate? Chewing 5 Gum doesn't count.

And scientific theories are hypotheses used to predict observations. They're not the observations themselves. Most importantly, they don't tell anything about what cannot be observed, such as the so-called "fabric" of the universe.
