Is motherly a compliment or no?

I've been hooking up with this guy I met at the gym since the beginning of the school year. It's only been sex, nothing more. The other night we just stayed up and talked which we really haven't done. We've always kept our relationship on only a hooking up basis. He described me as "Mom-like" or "motherly." We are 23 and fairly attractive people. Should I take this as compliment or no?

He said it after he described me as attractive, funny, outgoing and a intelligent. Then, he said, at the same time I have "motherly" like qualities at times. It just caught me off guard, i couldn't tell if that was his nice way of saying uninterested
