+1 yWhat in your opinion, is the most appropriate punishment for rapists?
Physical identification of the crime such as an non removable tattoo on a prominent location, gps embedded chip, and financial payment of the victim's therapy counseling, and treatment. (if alive)
I imagine the financial aspect would be more incentive not to rape as according to statistics most rape cases do not go to trial, of those even fewer get sentences, and the sentences tend to be very light. I think sacrificing finances would not go well over more than a short stint.
I state the physical identification so that potential victims can be avoided and gps embedded chip so that law enforcement can be able to track the rapist movement in order to rule the rapist out or in possible crimes. Plus I imagine the tattoo would do some social outcast and shame/guilt by feminists. I state feminists as I find feminists tend to be the only ones that genuinely care about rape and the victims while most of society tends to excuse/diminish the rapist's role and victim blame and shame especially if it's male on female rape.07 Reply- +1 y
@Asker
o.O I did state the punishment for the current crime committed:
" financial payment of the victim's therapy counseling, and treatment. (if alive)" - +1 y
@Asker
Then it appears all/most his money will be going towards her/his therapy, counseling, and treatment. - +1 y
@Asker
That's his issue. Again the possible hardships impacted on him and those close to him are why I chose financial payment as I imagine it's more of an incentive not to rape than the current justice system of seemingly short stints. I possibly would toss in having any legal guardians (for underage rapists) or legal partners also being responsible for financial payments if he can not make enough. - +1 y
Should have thought about that before raping.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yUm i'd say a lengthy jail sentence (no parole), paying for the victims medical bills, and the person should be forced to see a psychyotrist to sort out their issues. If it's a minor, then they should have life in prison, otherwise how will that person ever feel safe again?
But really, i think more should be done to educate people about consensual sex. Like schools should have a few classes devoted to explaining the dangers out there and what you should do.
Like how you should always watch your drink, watch the bartender make it and different ways to hold the drink to stop someone being able to just put something in there. Never accept ready made drinks from anyone, even your friends (who might not be as cautious). Staying in groups and never walking home alone. Plus there is all this new technology that allows you to not only alert your family/friends when you are in trouble, but also provides your location.
Prevention is key:)10 Reply

+1 yTo be honest, if I didn't have the morals I was raised with, I'd say they deserve to be raped, so they could glimpse the suffering they inflicted on another person. However. . . having those morals, I say they should be jailed for a very long time and required to pay expenses for therapy and such for the victim. Have the act placed on their permanent record. Plus being raped themselves wouldn't actually work, since that would just make someone else a rapist.

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yA long prison sentence. I totally oppose any kind of capital or corporal punishment. Every punishment should be open to compensation. If you receive a prison sentence even though you're innocent, you'll never get the time back, but a load of cash might ease the pain to a large degree. But, if you get killed, or even if you don't get killed but you literally lose your balls, how is anything going to compensate for that?
In a world where we're literally all-knowing, I'd have no problem with castrating rapists or killing murderers. BUT we don't live in such a world. And, if we did live in such a world, no crimes would take place anyway, because we'd be all-knowing, so we'd know about them before they even happen. Furthermore, if you give the state the legal authority to destroy your body, you open up a can of worms.21 Reply
Opinion Owner+1 yAnd believe me, I have three friends who've been raped (one man raped by a man, one man raped by a woman, and one woman raped by a man), and I've received minor sexual assaults myself. So it's not like I'm totally unaffected by the utter horror of sex crimes.
+1 yChemical castration AND 2 years of jail time, possibly with psychological assistance to make them realize that no, physically threatening someone into submission is NOT right.
.
They sure as hell won't do it again!27 Reply- +1 y
Well no, of course they won't, you melted their balls of with chemicals therefor destroying any testosterone production and making them fertile and obedient. I'm glad most of you people don't have the power to make these decisions because all of you seem to think that two wrongs make a right.
Do you even wonder why we have human rights? People who ARE too crazy or violent to stay alive are killed, but at least they aren't freaking tortured. You people really are NO BETTER THAN THEM - +1 y
Hmph, just because some people have a weird fetish for their SOs doesn't mean you have the right to physically threaten a female you don't even know into submission so that rather to avoid being harmed even further they allow you to have sex with them. Anyone capable of displaying this level of violence without any sort of empathetical evaluation deserves to be punished severely.
- +1 y
I have Asperger's Syndrome and I'm pretty incapable of empathetical evaluation. What about me? What about people who are into playing hard to get? Where do you draw the line at, sir? Because everyone wants to have a cut and dry opinion on this shit, and NONE of you seem to have really thought out all of the implications of what you're saying
- +1 y
BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA "incapable of empathetic evaluation"? Seriously? You're telling me that? Empathy is a skill. If you have emotions, you can process the image constructed with the given conditions, and image the action that is done to you and assess the emotional response it gives you.
How do I know? I used to think I had "Aspergers" and stuff as well, because I literally had NO idea what empathy even WAS nor did I feel the emotions of others nor actually my own due to all the emotional suppression in favor of 'adherence to traditional masculinity', hoping that people would like me;
but then I read about empathy and LEARNED it, I have grown to understand the process and can apply it consciously. Saying "oo I have aspergers and I don't know how to process feelings" seems like a cop-out in many cases. Not all, but many. You literally don't see to make any reasonable effort to understand neither your emotions, nor the possible emotions of others. - +1 y
As someone who had no idea what empathy even WAS, telling me that you're incapable seems like a bit of a stretch. If you have the capability to reconstruct images of events, and have the capability to feel emotional responses to events in your life, then you have all you need to use empathy.
What Girls & Guys Said
Opinion

Uhm I think you guys are being somewhat ignorant, stating a controversial opinion here, but jail should be sufficient, no walk of shame etc. only due to rape. You see, girls sometimes lie to get exes or random guys into jail when they freely had sex with them. Should they have it cut off too? And what happens when the truth is out, it wasn't rape but consensual sex and he stands there with no balls? Same spplies with stoning/death punishment btw. Also, how about sex equality? Should a girl have her clit cut off, or her ovaries? iirk, either way no ty. I would say pedophiles and severe violent rapes (involving blood, loss of virginity and/or violence of any kind) should be punished with the ballcut. Otherwise, no...
15 Reply- +1 y
When I think of rape, I think of the violent "physically force into submission via threats and pain" thing. I think most people here did too.
- +1 y
Yeah well, it's just in my country there was this case about this 14 year old slut some years ago who needed money for the train, as her mother wasn't supposed to know where she had been. So she asked 3 guys if they could lend her money for it (100 DKK) and they would if she had sex with all three of them. She did, and they figured they all three together only had 17 DKK, so she couldn't go home and she was obviously pissed and reported all three guys for rape. After they got sentenced she had a phone call woth one of them where she came clean about the situation, and that was the evidence they had that they weren't rapists. I guess my country is just f'ked up
- +1 y
Um, I don't know what country you're from, but these guys had sex WITH A MINOR.
It doesn't matter, if she gave consent or not, because she's legally not capable of doing that as she is still legally a CHILD.
Yes, she's a dumb whore, who cried rape when she didn't get paid, but the fact remains that she is bloody 14 years old and shouldn't be having sex with anyone period.
The guys will be prosecuted for rape anyway, because of her age. - +1 y
Best answer
Imprisonment. It works well as a punishment for any crime which harms others, since it separates the criminal from law abiding members of society, therefore preventing recurrence.
Really worries me the way everyone else seems to be answering this question. Do people really want to live in a society where the state has the power to beat and kill its own people? Maybe you should all move to Saudi Arabia or some other hell hole still stuck in the dark ages.20 Reply7.6K opinions shared on Other topic. Yeah that's punishment but that doesn't help rehabilitate the person.
Although he is castrated, he will be so angry that he will just kill women instead of raping them.
Remember that rape is more about dominance than sexual pleasure, so castration won't deter motive.20 Reply- 2.4K opinions shared on Other topic.
+1 yThe best punishment for them is to be given a taste of their own medicine. The court should order them to be raped by a much stronger gay man.
26 Reply- +1 y
Even then it would be a fitting punishment, because no one enjoys being 'raped', irrespective of their gender or sexual orientation.
- +1 y
Being victims of sexual abuse during childhood doesn't give a license to people to 'avenge' it as adults by sexually abusing others, right?
- +1 y
You'd think it would give insight to why they SHOULDN'T be sexually abusing others, considering it causes them pain. Their future victims have nothing to do with what had happened to them.
- +1 y
@Mesonfielde
Exactly! The only way to perhaps deter rapists from repeating their crime, is to show them how it feels to be at the receiving end.
Rape. Because that's what solves crimes right? Repeating the process of violence!
Seriously, if you're going to go through all that just kill the guys. If you get off on torturing people, even if they're bad people, then you're some kinda rapist yourself29 Reply- +1 y
you got a response
- +1 y
If rapists were the victim of sexual abuse, they should rather realize that this is bad and shouldn't do it to anyone else, rather than repeat it and force others to feel what they once did. How inhumane can you get? I do not feel empathy for these people, just like how they don't feel empathy for their victims.
- +1 y
Not everybody comes to the same conclusions, moron. When you get raped or have something like that happen to you, you come to a crossroads and have AT LEAST 2 ways to see it and deal with it, and that's a matter of life. Different experiences are going to lead people down different paths. Girls who are raped for example, want to still enjoy sex, so they have to rationalize the rape in 1 of 2 ways. Either 1. Sex no longer becomes a big deal to them. Turns into something like a handshake, Removing the importance of sex removes the emotional impact. or 2. Sex becomes EXTREMELY important. They become very sexually sheltered and become the average beaten housewife stereotype. They deal with it realistically. See it as something that happened, and consider themselves damaged goods because of it. They shouldn't because they're still beautiful people, and some eventually learn that, but yeah, you face a problem, you learn SOMETHING from it, but it's not always the RIGHT THING
- +1 y
Well, maybe the fear would deter people from doing something ever so stupid, like forcing people into submission via physical violence. I really can't get over how wrong that is. If someone is capable of such an act, you may as well apply death sentence to them to protect other members of our society.
- +1 y
Oho, downvotes! 2 women don't like being called rapists. They don't like the idea that THEY get off from torturing people and that makes them no better than rapists. They don't understand why society tries to be civilized. If you throw the rules out, THEY ALL GO OUT. You don't get to decide what you like and what you don't. You are either fair and humane, or you're a damn rapist. SO GET OVER YOUR HYPOCRITICAL SELVES
- +1 y
While you do make a valid point about how maybe we shouldn't make them suffer nearly as much like "whipping them to death" for example, they should still deserve some punishment. It's not even the sexual act that bugs me, it's the physical violence. I think anyone who resorts to physical violence should be punished in some way.
- +1 y
well, you got a lengthy reply from me on empathy on my own post.
- 9.3K opinions shared on Other topic.
+1 ywhatever the punishment is, should be influenced by a psychologist. we don´t live in medieval times, where you cut off the hand of a thief... we know most crimes don´t happen out of "pure evil" but out of hardship or psychological problems. i think its important to consider this and don´t let yourself blind by anger and empathy for the victim. (not to say that you should forget about the victim)

cause you guys get really offended over that shit
thats cause female rapes don't get reported as often
would you believe a guy if he told you some lady pinned him down and forced him to fuck her?
or
would you be able to share that you got raped by a woman?
wouldn't you feel ashamed? its hard enough if its a guy.
all my female friends that have been molested, have been by a female family member
you don't understand how sick my gender is. - +1 y
yeah i did keep that in mind. that pissed me off even more
have you ever heard the saying "assume and make an ass of yourself,"? - +1 y
Its technically not possible for women to 'rape' men.
- +1 y
It is, you just have to knock them out with some substance like chloroform, tie them up, and when they come back to consciousness you ride them even though they don't want you to. You may start an argument saying "but why would a guy reject sex from a woman" for which I say haven't you EVER seen at least ONE girl who you found so unattractive either physically or personality-wise or behavior-wise that you would rather avoid them? The person you have sex with matters. Also, what if they instead of riding you, use a dildo for the other hole... I think that's pretty certainly rape.
What the hell does a person gain from molesting their own sex? I don't get it. - +1 y
Also, let's not forget that the definition of rape includes being drunk and having sex, and then waking up the next morning displeased. You can prosecute and claim rape for that no matter what gender you are. Rape laws are ridiculous because of how hard it is to prove this crap. Girls could also give a guy a rufie or any other number of things.

- +1 y
yeah, I never understood what's up with the "power and control" thing. If I ever wanted to rape someone, it would be for the sex, and not for the dehumanization. Of course, I would rather not force someone into doing something they don't want to do, and especially not via physical threats. Violence is an error.
- +1 y
mmm but rapists are sick. usually they don't care about the sex. its all emotional

- +1 y
hannah you know full n well that you made up that statistic
you know why?
cause only 1% of REPORTED rapes are by females - +1 y
91% of victims of rape are female but also take in factors like men not reporting rape and conviction rates also being low. Also on the other hand rape of women is an under reported crime and many times a conviction does not happen. to get a true sense of %'s may be impossible but in my guess it is still 90% or more female victims.

Okay, here's a question for you, OP. Most rape cases happen behind closed doors and are really hard to prove. Let's say some girl tried to claim you raped her. Do you know how hard it would be for you to deny it? All she'd have to do is say she was drinking that night, and then YOU'D be the one having "fear instilled"
- +1 y
Rape laws and prosecution are already difficult enough without every idiot chiming in with their own two sense. If YOU want to sacrifice your life to go and kill some rapist, then YOU can do that, but SOCIETY tries to have morals and standards to keep us from resorting to those things. WE don't want to be like them OR you
