I am in the planning stages of choicing to open a salon or barber shop. The barber shop will be one of a kind. Women only barbers. Gents, how do you feel about letting a female perfect their craft on you?

It's been like a decade since I've had a dude cut my hair. It's all the same to me. It just so happens that the places I've gone to get my hair cut employ primarily or only women.

I am a bit curious as to whether there is a noticeable cultural difference. Black hair is usually textured and styled differently than white hair, and even in my diverse community whites and blacks often go to different places to get their hair cut. The places with a greater proportion of black customers almost always have more male barbers. I don't associate it with sexism, but rather familiarity with the styles; it is an interesting phenomenon to me though.

I don't really support the blatant sexism with "women only workers", but I don't mind girls cutting my hair. Most haircuts I get are by women, usually turns out the same as by men.

a desired haircut, I don't see why it should be a problem.

If I had to let someone do my hair, gender
wouldn't play a role in my decision.

Although I generally don't let anyone
beside myself do my hair, after I was taught
a great way to do it in school :3

No I wouldn't mind a girl cutting my hair. The thing about guys is their spontaneous. Gee I'd better get a haircut & call. No color & touchups. No standing appointments. If MY time isn't available we probably will go somewhere else.
Ladies usually have standing appointments & have more expensive things done to their hair.
Guys will go into a salon for a haircut or a barbershop. A barbershop limits you to just guys.

My haircuts are by the little machine in my bathroom. But before I had that one I've seen only female barbers, I couldn't recall a single man doing this job in any of the shops (and many it is) I have been to.

Though, to be fair, I have curly hair which is more difficult to cut, and before I started going to her I never had a good haircut.

Women cut my hair all the time!! Hell, I would rather have a woman cutting my hair than have some guy running his hands through it.

I already let a female barber cut my hair many times and I am perfectly happy with her work. However, opening a barber shop with female-only barbers being the main focus or the main difference compared to other barber shops is not gonna do you any good when it comes to guys. At least that's what I think. Getting your hair cut by the opposite sex is not something special or different.

I cut or trim my own hair once, sometimes twice, a week. But, if ever my circumstances prevented from doing so, I would, based on merit, consider getting a cut from a woman barber.

The women barbers that I'm familiar with charge the same as the men shops. I know some of the women require your hair washed. One of the women barbers conveyed to me that men tip better. Ummm.. I wonder why!!

I'd prefer a guy at a barber shop. The only way I'd consider an all-female staff barber shop is if they were hot and in bikinis.

lol because it takes me less time to cut my hair myself, than it does to put on my shoes. Forget about making an appointment 2 days from now, having to drive to some barber, find a parking spot, sit in the waiting room listening to lame easy listening music, then sit in the barber chair while they get ready, then drape you with the bib, then finally cut my hair but do it slower than I would while talking about bull crap so that they are acting like you are getting your money worth, then waiting to be rung up and actually having to pay for all that inconvenience. No thanks!
