What direction do you put silverware in the dish rack?

Handle down towards the bottom of the drawer. Better to grab the handle where your hand is supposed to be, than putting your hand all over the business end of every spoon/fork/knife below yours.

Knives pointed down for safety everything else up so it has a better chance of getting clean
