The moment i read your comment "When my closest friend on this site" I had a feeling it had to be sandplanet. I've come across multiple posts of her when she/he is chiding at the younger folks in which you too must have posted something. I would have indeed commented on some of those but the bond between you two was pretty strong and this is what kept my away from doing it. I am still surprised with all your risk management skills you fell for her/his story !!
Just to be clear. SandPlanet was a catfish? That wasn't her in her profile picture and she told disgusting stories? I thought she was real and intelligent o.0

Well in that case, they are/were a friend, and at some point i just accepted i liked talking to them, and... their life facts don't change that one way or another. its' just odd if they're lying because there's no need.
But in cases where people have fake sob stories, its like... wtf. Idk. Someone I know has suggested one user here was part of saves suite of characters, i didn't know them too well, its just... sad if they are, sad if they're not.

This is just sick! But unfortunately things like this do happen, and it's the not first or the last time either.
Ironically "SandPlanet " and I messaged once because she/he told me that I didn't have to have anything anonymous or private because I did both. It's because of people like them that I like privacy.

Well that's more than a little strange.
I can't say I've ever run into anything like that personally. But then again, I tend not to make a habit of making friends with/trusting others online, except for certain vetted professional circles I'm involved with. I tend to just do my thing and go about my day.
Sorry that happened, it must be really disappointing to lose someone you thought of as a friend.

It is when someone fakes a persona of someone else. They use pictures of models and the like, and claim to be them. I've seen a documentary on one when they actually visited a catfisher and talked some sense into them. The documentary was called "Catfish" , hence the term.
