What is the magnitude of the normal force that the track exerts on the block when it is at the top of its path?
Express your answer with the appropriate units.
nt=?
F=ma
F is going to be the normal force and mg
You change ma to (1/2) m (v^2)
Calculate the velocity of the block at the bottom.
At the bottom, all of the energy is kinetic. At the top, some of it is potential, and some it is kinetic.
KE of the bottom = PE at top + KE at top
Use that formula to find the velocity at the top.
Plug in that velocity into your force equation to find the normal force.
Cool! Thanks man greatly appreciated.
