What's the difference between a 38D and 38DD?

I normally wear a 38DD, however I just measured and websites are telling me i should be a 38d?

What does that mean? my boobs haven't gotten any smaller.. :(

but to clarify, my measurements are
band: 34
bust: 42

Different manufacturers and even different styles have different sizes so it's not uncommon to have sizing issues. This is how I measure my bust and its helped a LOT
