How does really curly hair work with water?

this question generally goes to black people with type 4 hair. (or if euro/ other poc have the same hair somehow)

what happens to your hair when the weather is humid or foggy?
what happens when you shower? does it floof right back up as soon as you get out of the shower?
(is it really hard to straighten?)
