Does hard water cause dry rough hair?

After a while, about the time I need a haircut my hair starts getting dried out and rough. I get a haircut about every 4 months or so. It's a lot worse now that I moved to a new house with well water that's really hard. I had hard water at my other house, but not nearly as bad. Opinions?

Funny, i'm not sure why I said it gets dried out and rough. Usually it gets oily/greasy, by the time I need a haircut but now since moving onto well water it's super dried out. Glad I figured out the reason.

I've grown up with well water and STILL use it, but the only hair issues I have is split ends. I remember getting a haircut one time, lady thought I dyed my hair because of the split ends. Nope, well water I told her.

Maybe you need to change the filter? Doesn't hurt to maybe get a plumber to check it out.

Install a water softener on your house or find a shower filter that fits your particular shower.

The type of shampoo you're using might not be helping either

Yeah they have water softeners. I just have a filter but not softener. It's like $1,000 for a filter setup that softens the water.

I think I'll do a two filter setup. A 5 micron for sediment and then another one that removes all the calcium and all that to soften it.
