AMERICANS, do you consider soccer an unmanly sport?

Well... not UNmanly, necessarily, just nowhere near as manly as a few other sports, most notably football (sorry for stealing the name, haha). The thing that gives soccer a bad rep is the flopping. It's already a non-contact sport (and contact is what makes a game manly, in the opinions of most, at least in the US), and then we see videos of guys taking an elbow or even less in a soccer game, and they're rolling around on the ground like they took a bullet, and they get carried off on a stretcher, etc. I know a lot of that is acting to draw a call from the ref. But we see that in hockey too, and those guys sometimes legitimately take a stick to the face and are literally spitting teeth out, and they go to the locker room and come back the same game. That's tough as nails. And with football, guys get LAID OUT. It happens at all levels from youth, to high school, to college, to the pros. I played all the way up until a few years ago, and I definitely feel like more of a man for it, and when I learn someone else played ball, I have an automatic level of respect for them because I know you have to be tough to play. I respect soccer, I fall all over myself trying to run and control possession of a ball at the same time, and their conditioning is as strong as any athlete. But brute force is what really attracts me to a game, so I even have trouble at times watching other American non-contact sports like baseball and basketball. I like them, but football and hockey are on another level. I need to see people getting knocked into next Tuesday to be entertained, I guess, haha.
Just saying basketball ain't a no contact sport, it's just a no tackle sport ;)
I think it's a wussy sport. Real blokes play Rugby.

I don't think it's unmanly, it's a pretty evenly unisex game. I know more male soccer players than I do female. And I tend to be attracted to soccer players. Though I don't really know they're soccer players until after I've developed an attraction towards them.
So not manly but not unmanly. It's unisex.
They all play with balls (except wrestling and fighting), how could you say that's not manly? Lol

I don't consider it "unmanly" but neither do I consider it "manly" either. It is just a sport that anyone can play.
I would suggest that you add a see results button next time if you don't want certain people to vote. Otherwise they can't see the results without voting and messing up your poll.
yeah indeed...
No one considers it "unmanly", mainly because our American players don't fake injuries.
We just consider it boring. You're watching a straight hour and a half of a ball being kicked where mostly nothing happens except a goal once in a while, BUT that might not even happen and if it's 0-0 for the score the game just ends.
That's why sports like American Football, Basketball, and Baseball became so popular in the US, something interesting almost always happens.
There is a funny link, "The hater's guide to word cup soccer", created back in 2010 during the South African Word Cup, that explains it. The narrator shows scenes of obvious faking injuries (in order to get a penalty imposed on the other team from the referees?) from 7:08 forward :
Yes, I think it's unmanly. It's a great game for girls and little kids (both boys and girls) 'cause all they have to do is run around and try to kick a ball in a net. It's a pretty simple concept. But for grown men? No way.
it requires technique, good decision making and exceptional stamina. it's not just running around and kicking a ball, that's called playing like a headless chicken and if it was this simple the United States would be able to get past the round of 16 on a consistent basis
I've played soccer and football... U get really messed up in football, compared to soccer.. Butnits not considerd a woman sport... Mayb it used to a long time ago
It's a sport for schoolgirls to play. What do you think?
unmanly then...
Obviously. If you want a manly sport, try ice hockey.
Soccer may be one of the biggest physical stressing sport there is... so the haters can F' off...
though like in soccer, basketball and football, the over emphasis on trying to draw a penalty is what makes sports look bad. And sometime soccer makes the case for taking the cake on fake fouls.
I've played, I've seen it. And well, watching it doesn't help its case either

Manly and unmanly is all about perception. One culture views one as manly the other as not. So whos perception is right?
Its not its just a point of view

Yes I consider Soccer an unmanly sport. It's more fitting for women to play it.
soccer takes skill and you have to be fit to do it. not really unmanly
It's not unmanly. It's far from the most manly tho however, I mean let's be Real.. Rugby? Football? Basketball? Baseball even? I mean pooolice!!
Nope, I consider it slightly more manly than than American football,
Of course it doesn't compare to the manliest sport of all
Boxing
I consider it a foreign sport, not a manly sport.
Cricket, however, now THAT sounds like a feminine sport!
I don't believe in "manly" or "unmanly" sports, everybody can play any sport, regardless of their gender.
it's a known fact that soccer is the best sport in the world nothing compares
Not really. Soccer is pretty manly.
