What would happen if you stuck a PLASTIC fork in an outlet?

The plastic might melt, trip the circuit, or the current could still arc and give you a jolt. So yes, you may still possibly get shocked in the process. My advice as an electrician, if it doesn't go there, don't put it in there. Commom sense goes a long way. Unfortunately, common sense isn't something I can teach. So if any of you still do this, just know that it was a dumb idea and you're dumb for doing it.

PS. Safety first. At least wear rubber gloves if you still insist on doing it.

Thanks for your answer. I wasn't actually going to do it- it actually started as a joke. My sister said "I wish some people would stick a fork in an outlet" and I said "what if they only have a plastic fork?"

K so in like 99% of cases out there, nope. After all, those safety plugs that you put in so babies don't mess around and get hurt are made of plastic. That said, there's still a chance that if you're not properly grounded and for some reason you and that plastic fork happen to be the path of least resistance for the electron flow, then in that odd and definitely rare case, yeah you can be electrocuted lol
