We used to have this happen to us when we lived on Guam. The power went out two or three times every week. We got used to it. You'd cook outside, visit your neighbors, etc. We moved to California and one Saturday the power went out. Our neighbors went batshit crazy as if the apocalypse had happened. It was hilarious.

I either turn on a couple of battery powered lamps, or light a couple oil lamps.

Then I'll find something to entertain myself, like reading, if it's light enough, or play a board game, if there's someone else with me.

I got backup. My car, as long as it has gas will output enough voltage through my power inverter which has 2 ac plugs and 3 usb (one c) to keep me going for a grip.
