Just for a little amusement, what’s your best, most out there solution to Gerald’s game? The story is about a woman who accidentally kills her husband while she is handcuffed to a bed, then the subsequent realization that she is trapped with little hope of rescue.
If if you were in handcuffed to a bed and no one knew where you were, or was going to check on the house what would you do?
What’s your best Macgyver solution to getting out of this situation?
If I was in the exact same scenario as her, I'd have a few solutions: A) Since the bed frame is wooden, I'd probably just be able to rip the handcuffs through it eventually. If it was metal, that obviously wouldn't be an option. B) Since my feet are free, I could probably fish the keys out of his pocket with them and unlock one of the handcuffs. C) If that didn't work, but I was near enough to a thermostat, I would turn the heat up as much as possible to make me sweat and hopefully slip through the handcuffs. D) If I starved long enough, my wrists would get thinner, and again I'd probably be able to slip out of the handcuffs. E) If absolutely nothing else worked, I could always twist my hand/wrist until it was broken and force the mangled bones and flesh through the handcuff.
If you break your wrist you won't be slipping out of anything. All that accomplishes is putting you in excruciating pain - the hand itself is no more flexible or smaller than it was. You would have to dislocate your thumb to make it smaller. Also you would die of thirst before you saw any substantial effect of starvation
I've yet to stay at a hotel that has a bed with a frame sturdy enough to keep me in the position she was in. Enough wiggling and the headboard will break off from the frame. That's *if* it's not so chinsy that the spot welds holding the vertical bars to the horizontal bars can't be broken. Most can. Easily.
I also have large wrists in relation to the size of my hands. Handcuffs have to be so tight they're cutting into my flesh or there's a good chance I can slip out of them.
Gerald's Game was easily one of King's worst books, if not T. H. E. worst.
Despite the posts claiming to be reinforced, that's your best bet. To run the cuff to the top where you can bend it at a weaker point. She doesn't try very hard at that, she should stop listening to that dead husband of hers and crack on with it...
In that situation I'd twist my legs to the side and boot the wooden post and keep kicking till it snaps and then I'd do the same to the other side shouldn't take more than 10/20 mins
You can also yank the chain so that it comes out or twist the chain so that it breaks. Personally tho, I'd only do leather cuffs so would have to unlock the buckle with toes or one hand.
Most bed frames are not built like a bank vault. If you keep scraping the chain across the bed frame in the same place, eventually it will wear down either the chain or the frame enough for it to be broken. It might take a couple days of work, but persistence is likely to pay off.
Easy Step 1: rotate your body to get your legs against the bed frame Step 2: brace your legs on the bed post and grab the handcuffs by the chain Step 3: push off with your legs while also pulling back with your arms
Its just a bed frame. If you are determined (which you should be since your life is on the line) you'll be able to break the head post and just find the keys... This is going to be a fucking movie?
Except for the fact they were made by the same author and they both involve people being tied to a bed.
Irregardless, King ran this scenario dry with his first attempt. Girl is tied to a wooden bed, but will spend 2 and a half hours of screen time thunking over what to do. I figured a solution before the guy had a chance to void his bowels after passing.

I never said the two were the same, just that they did have things in common, which you admitted after saying they had nothing in common, so I'm confused on why you're jumping down my throat all of a sudden. That was because I assumed that when you said, "I think it might already be a movie," I assumed you were thinking of Misery, the movie based off a Stephen King book, because I didn't think there was a movie made off this one yet. When you said it had nothing to do with Gerald's Game, I thought that was an invitation to state an opinion on the two books.

Solution: Grab the top of the vertical bed posts and pull. Considering the way this type of bed is constructed, this will provide enough leverage to pop the wooden joints off. They should have used a metal four poster bed to make this believable...
Well, tbh I think most guys would be able to break those wooden posts by just pulling on the handcuff's chain. But if I was the woman then I'd do what @Humbledman74006 said and flip myself over to push off of the wall. If that didn't work than I'd slowly start wearing away at the would be sliding it up and dow until it was weak enough to break
flip yourself over so that your feet are on the wall and use the force to break the headboard.
Or since the handcuffs are on the pillars that means they can go up and you could just literally stand up and lift the handcuffs off, since the pillars get thinner as they rise.
Or stand up and just rip the pillars off with force as they will most likely break or snap before your arms do.
Pillars widened at the top, also stated they were reinforced. Arms are spread too wide to be able to turn around and get your legs up against the head board. The cuffs were tight against her wrists. There was no gap. I doubt a broken thumb would have enabled the hand to slip out...(I already ran through all of these when I watched it, ha!)

She needs to. flip herself over so she is facing the frame. It's wooden, now her legs are in a position to break the post, legs are stronger than the arm.
