I think someone admirable and respected is a person who:
-Have good morals and beliefs
-Does what it is right; despite its own interest, the criticism or the opposition.
-Places others needs before his.
-Has the courage to stand and defend others who need it.
-Always have the courage to go against its fears.
In a nutshell, someone who is a good example of how a person should be but does even more. He goes beyond his human duty to helps others.

The way the carry and present themselves. Also how well of a leader they are. Recently I started a new job and one of the GM's helped me during my training even though it was the manager's job. Nobody else came out to introduce themselves or anything, but he did. He also helped me a lot more than most of my other co-workers. He still does and he helps everyone else too. The other GMs aren't like him. That there is why I respect him. He's a good, honest person.
When they think things through and stand by their decisions.. even if they change their minds, I respect someone who can acknowledge how far they've come. I can't stand flakes who try to act brandnew every time the wind shifts directions.
Humility. I have always had deep respect for people who are humble and respectful themselves. I feel that someone deserves respect if they themselves are respectful.
Action. I love it when people have grand plans... and actually do the work required to make those plans become a reality. I can respect work ethic. Drive.

When I observe that the person is really working hard and is busy in focusing on his own life, rather than showing off and posting pics on social media.
The values and beliefs a person holds. Not because they are forced to do so but they have their own reasoning, and also the way a person carries themselves through the good times and the bad.

Admire is different than Respect.
Respect: the one who deserves it in my eyes.
Admire: the one who i cherishGenuineness, lack of ego without the lack of self respect, hardwork, commitment and loyalty, etc.
Someone you can count on when times get tough. Someone who will listen to you no matter what. Someone who genuinely cares about you. For example if you where to disappear out of their life tomorrow they'd cry themselves to sleep.
