What are qualities that make you respect someone?

For me, a big one is clarity. If you're a liar or you don't care to articulate yourself well or you just assume everyone should "know" it's hard for me to respect you.

Hello there this is a more of a dual set of characteristics.

Has integrity and consistency - this is a big ones they aren't being pulled around socially and forgetting or going back on things they promised. It shows they think for themself and keep to what they say while being independent.

They are kind but honest - They dont sugercoat to avoid things but they carefully and kindly handle the truth without being harsh about it.

They are respectful - They try to listen with everyone still have boundaries but let other people have their say.

Wise and good - They've seen a lot of bad stuff but choose to not let it errode their core wisdom anf I guess they help people who may need guidance.

* They have courage without it letting their ego take over. So often we like to hide behind othet people's beakers of validation or our ego but someone who is brave but has respectful attitude is a huge sign they do what's right even if its uncomfortable.

I totally feel you on clarity. I respect people who say what they mean, follow through, and don’t play mind games. Accountability is huge too: admit mistakes, apologize, and change. Emotional control, not lovebombing or ghosting when things get hard. And consistency: words and actions matching is the ultimate green flag.
