Not to be confused with liking someone. Just respect.

Not to be confused with liking someone. Just respect.
Confidence without arrogance , humility , kindness , empathy , integrity , reliability , honesty , consideration , actually listening and not waiting to speak , consistency , openness and likely a little leadership dependent on who they are to me
To your descriptive point , I don’t have to like a person to respect them.
Everyone deserves a basic primary level of respect irrespective of their creed , color , background or beliefs To gain admiration or even trust however is earned by their actions , behaviors and by their character
Where I have clashed with authority throughout my life thus far is the propagation that it demands respect. While clearly it demands a level of deference / submission , should the actions taken under the guise of authority not show fairness or competence, inspiring some level of respect then I cannot simply follow blindly. Authority like that will generally command my compliance but never my respect.
You don’t have to like someone to respect them.
I can’t stand my coworkers but nonetheless I work with to get production moving and progressing… for that I give each one their share of mutual respect. I don’t think respect is automatically deserved, but it must be paid when it’s due wether you have differences or distinctive ideas.
There's more, but you get the general idea. Folks with admirable traits who also treat others with respect are respected.
If someone is nice, has a small ego, doesn’t feel entitled or superior, is giving and selfless (as opposed to selfish), holds strong to their convictions, and takes good care of themselves, I respect them.

A certain amount is already emitting out of what I've learned in life and a good slash of self-respect. Then on we go with the fresh part. They demonstrate, not talk about, integrity. Honesty, friendly and all the attributes that make up a person.
When they are decent, honest and empathetic people.
If they are kind, open minded, , funny, intellectual or chatty. I draw my attention towards them.
If they like me and respect me then I respect them too
There honestly and the way they handle themselves out in public also on there moral values especially if they are in line with mine.
Honesty and loyalty.
If they're nice
I try to be just respectful of everyone.
That didn't answer the question at all
@HawkPerception I can't answer that question.
That’s not a good thing, at all. There are both good and bad people in this world. If you are respectful of bad people (murderers, rapists, terrorists, child predators, home invaders, serial killers, etc) that means you have very weak convictions and, possibly, a broken moral compass.
@Brittwnyrunner06 well said
@Brittanyrunner06 I don't understand your definition of respect.
As far as I can tell this world doesn't have enough respect for others which is why we have bad people in it!
@WonderingManII "Respect: a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements."
The fact that you say you try to respect everyone is exactly as she explained. Not everyone is deserving of respect.
Sorry, but I think YOU don't understand the definition of respect.
@Brittanyrunner06 What I really hate is how you are attacking my moral compass. I try to be respectful of everyone until I got reason not too. I just write my opinions, I'm not here to get into debates or to be made too look like a fool. For all I know you could be a bad person, just like all the ones you just listed! Does that mean I shouldn't show you any respect?
@WonderingManII Your logic just isn't there. And if you aren't willing to get into debates, then don't bother posting opinions or responding to others.
@HawkPerception Why are you attacking me?
@HawkPerception
My parents taught me to respect everyone! I have always tried to follow that. I never questioned the definition of it.
@HawkPerception
Sounds like you are looking for justified reasons to be mean to people.
@WonderingManII Grow a thicker skin. I disagree with your statement and I'm voicing why. If you can't handle that, it's best to unfollow and block me 👍🏼
Let's say someone rapes your loved one and then kills them. Are they deserving of respect? Do you not see the flaw in your statement?
@HawkPerception
No because I'm a Christian. As a Christian you treat even bad people the best you can. Because we are all sinners who need a savior. None of us are good.
@WonderingManII Justified reasons to be mean to people? You're incredibly soft man. I'm not even being mean. I can say things a lot worse than what I'm saying to you right now. If you think this is mean, go hide in the corner of your bedroom.
@HawkPerception
I endured 8 years of people hitting me, and throwing things at me. They also destroyed my things. Simply because they didn't like me. I never said or did anything to provoke it. I know what being mean is. I suffered a nervous breakdown from it all. Jesus says turn the other cheek.
@WonderingManII If you fight back, they respect you. If you let them do whatever they want, you show you're an easy target and the bullying continues. But sure, keep turning the other cheek. That seems to be going well for you 👍🏼
@HawkPerception When the creature of the universe tells you how to behave, then you obey that, not humans.
@WonderManII Oh boy...
I didn’t “attack” your moral compass. I said there’s a possibility that you have a broken one if you respect people like rapists, child predators, and serial killers and stuff. And I read through the rest of your conversation here and you don’t come across of sound mind, here. I’m not saying you’re definitely not, just that you do not come across that way, in this particular conversation.
@Brittanyrunner06 I can't help it, my brain doesn't work right. I have a learning disability. Not everything in my brain fires correctly. I was just merely giving my opinion, get a point and move on. But you two decided to turn it into a conversation when 99% of everyone else doesn't care!
And now I will tell you, I thought about this a lot, and now I decided I don't care either.
@WonderingManII Bravo 👏 Give yourself a pat on the back. You don't care, yet you felt the need to respond saying you don't care. You know that's ironic, right? 😂
@HawkPerception Troll. @brittanyrunner06 Troll.
When they don't lie
