I used to be into the car thing, but now they're just annoying. I got really tired of them after this past summer in particular. I got tired of hearing them for endless nights, racing at ridiculous speeds on the main road near my house. After several nights of that crap, I went up there, acted like what they were doing was awesome, took some pictures of their cars and then called the cops. Haven't heard much since. Good riddance.

Loud cars remind me of *look at me. I'm somebody* I don't think loud things though. Very annoying. I don't care how fast a persons car is in the slightest. I'm not sure if you wanted honesty though?

I'm all for cars, but if it's too loud it sounds like a piece of shit. A low rumble is good though, just nothing crazy that could make me go deaf, thanks.

I see where you're coming from, sound means speed and power. On the other hand, my space is kind of being violated, like my ears are getting raped or something, so I don't like it.

It’s irrelevant. Engines are glorified air pumps, and airflow restrictions mean a loss of power. It’s basic physics

@Redstang88 You may think so but there is a thing called back pressure , that is why exhausts are tuned to maximise this to increase the gas flow out of the combustion chamber. So the noise part is where the exhaust is too big bore so this slows the flow down. Which means the engine still has burnt fuel in combustion chamber , when fresh fuel is being injected causing a only partial ignition of the fuel ,, ie loss of power,,...

You are partially correct. Backpressure is not a good thing, exhaust velocity is what needs to be optimized. And optional velocity is obtained through straight pipes, it is the length and diameter that need too be properly sized

I never said otherwise, some exhaust system is needed. What I said was the most efficient exhaust is not going to be quiet, it’s that simple.
And yeah, just hacking the exhaust off a vehicle will make it run like shit. Factory vehicles are designed to run with the life chocked out of them by emmisons/noise devices. Vehicles run better without but they need to be tuned for it
