Equality. The picture is intentionally misleading. First and foremost, look at every society that has attempted to give people the exact same outcomes i. e. socialist nations. They have failed every single time. Second, why does every one deserve the same thing if they have not put in the same effort? That's what equity really means, it means forcing one person to give up the fruits of their labor to some one else. Abraham Lincoln supposedly summed up slavery this way, "he works so I can eat.", that is EXACTLY what equity is, one person produces while the other takes, only in this case its the government that comes in and forces the person to give up what they have earned. Third, equity leads to poverty because no matter how much you earn what ever surplus you produce is immediately taken from you. This incentivizes you to not produce surplus (which is needed to grow businesses, to save for the future and to invest both in oneself (getting a nicer home in a nicer neighborhood to have a better place to live for your family as well as investing in education so that you can make more and ensure your kids are better off for it as well as saving for retirement) and in the community (fewer people to buy products as they have less money, fewer people with money willing to loan/invest it in new business ideas and technologies etc.). So equality, its not the government nor societies role to ensure you get everything you want, its only their responsibility to make sure they stay out of your way and don't hinder you.
Well, in that picture I’m sure most people would agree that “equity” would be the right course of action, but of course life and it’s problems can and are much more complex than that picture, so trying to apply that picture to every single issue in life is ignorant.
Equity is something that we will never, ever get right. Some things are more simple, and they've already been solved - making buildings wheelchair friendly, for example. But how do we solve statistical racial/gender inequalities? Do we make tests easier? Do we offer more government benefits to minorities? We can can enact equality in the eyes of the law and constitution, but in regards to equity, we'll never be able to come to a consensus.
Equality is best. It's not right to handicap or hold a person back just for being born with talent or ability.

It depends. That wheelchair-bound: did he buy his own ramp, or was someone else forced to pay for him to get it? Because if the latter, then why can't his ramp then be taken away from him, and given to yet someone else still, simply because they voted a certain way?
Why is there no option for both? Equality to me is generally about discrimination on race or gender etc but equity is about fairness... if your gonna sell me a ticket to watch a game you should take reasonable measures to ensure i can see it. I would say in most cases equality is also equity but its not necessarily reversed. Or am i missing something?
Neither, equity is good but what happens when the child grows up?
They'll expect to gain the same amount of boxes and complain if they don't get 2.
A better one would be giving the child and the disabled person parts to build their boxes/ramp then helping them. With this they learn how to help themselves, yet get aid given when they don't know how to help themselves yet.
To put it simply earth , have enough resources to support more then it's currently population, (only veg, don't know of meat) but we humans have created economy, which disturbs the distribution of resource.
In that place equality and equity don't hold a place.
Equity doesn't work everytime just like equality doesn't either.
We have to choose depending on the scenario
Equality is the best, the picture just makes it look a lot worse. Everyone should have the same chance and if they do more then others they should get rewarded with more.
Although equity also represents fairness, it also refers to the value of a mortgaged property after deduction of charges against it which I value too. :)
Whenever I see this question I always ask myself where our humanity went! Being a human, it’s not just working, eating and enjoy life! It’s more than that! If we could ask ourselves if we are doing unto others what we want to be done unto us! Unfortunately, in most cases, it’s the ego and selfishness that took over and drive us to behave the way we behave!
Equity is better but this represents neither. There's a game people paid to watch on these guys are on the sidelines watching it for free
This ^
so equity means everyone should be able to just watch a game over the fence instead of paying for their seat in the stadium like everyone else? xD seems mildly inapropriate. i think it should be equally forbidden to do that to all of those.
Equity. But it applies only to cases like in the image, where somebody is prevented by some third factor from doing what everybody else does. In other words, being disabled is a legit reason to get help or privileges, being a lazy fuck or a special snowflake is not.
It entirely depends on how you get there. And in our society, equity is often used interchangeably with equality of outcome, which is an evil idiology.
I think equality should be valued the most especially if it involves two physically able and mentally able people but if not the equity should take place.
In you example it is clear that equity is a solution.
However, equality and equity is an answer to the illusion of oppression or unfairness. If this is a political question then I would have to say neither is needed if bad culture is dealt with.
This pics shows equity is better.
But equality is best.
How is it either of the two when they are literally stealing viewing a sporting event by not buying a ticket like all the other people in the stand.
Equity all the way. There are many areas in which equality does not make sense. However, I don't want equity to be used to further some agendas (like the one where women are supposedly oppressed).
I'm for equal opportunity, I'm not a communist. Besides that, we need to be more specific to the actual situations.
The correct answer is always the best possible choice based on the situation at hand.
That being displayed is illegal and they should go to jail.
