Why did my boyfriend mute me from texting him?

I don't know if we are officially dating. I say this because we never actually had a talk about it. We have been talking on and off for 2 years and then we hung out at my place a couple weeks ago and made out. He is in the military so he is not really around that much but he really likes me A LOT. he's gone right now and before we left he muted my messages cause every time i try to text him it says its waiting for him to take me off do not disturb mode. Im sure he just did it so that i would not bother him 24/7 but being the kind of insecure girl i am i am always thinking (Maybe he doesn't want to be with me anymore) or that he is mad at me for something. I know that i am probably overreacting but i won't really know until he comes back. Why would he even mute me? I am going crazy thinking about it because i am not trying to wait for someone who is not planning to be with me. I am sure that there is nothing wrong with our relationship but its kind of have me worried. I want to talk to him about it but that would make me seem like the crazy obsessed girlfriend and i am not trying to make him think that i do not trust him to not tell me things and make him think that i am trying to control him since i know that guys think way different than girls. Advice?
