When do you send the winking emoji?

In my particular case I send it never.

My ex used to send it when he was being the typical pervert he is and wanted me to get naked.

My male friend on the other hand used to send it to me when he was being perverted and wanting to get on my nerves but that's slowly starting to change. He sends them now more and more and with different connotations. One of them in particular confused me because he sent it after I told him not to fall when we're hiking because if he does he's stuck with me until we can find an ambulance if he's hurt and he replied with a winking emoji. I didn't see any reason for the winking emoji at that time. I just didn't get it.

When do you guys send the winking emoji and is it always this interestingly timed? Usually people send it when their flirting or just being perverted but I guess there are other reasons too.

Or when I'm saying "don't worry, I'll sort this problem out"

Or if I have something in my eye but I'm involved in the conversation.

But I guess if they say something like "oh I get to spend more time with you" then wink... That's flirting.

It just depends on the context of the conversation involving said wink... You can't really say "oh they're winking so they must be flirting"

I'd never use it as an indication that I want something sexual from someone. It reminds me too much of players. 😂 I may wink in person but it's different than through text. You've got the advantage of being able to see and comprehend body language/facial expression patterns. It doesn't seem as sleezy in person if you do it right.

To me, a 'wink' is nothing flirty. I use it to indicate a witty feeling or idea.
A wink in real life is a sort of signal betewenn allies, saying something like 'you know what I mean'
